The best the Sens could do against a Canucks team missing their 1G, 1D (for most of the game), and best all-around forward was a one goal loss. Bleak.
There is no way the Pens Ownership fully thought through what hiring Kyle Dubas means.

Dubas accomplished building that type of team once. It cost him (and us) a bevy of futures at the TDL and it wasn’t truly ingrained in the culture like in Florida who promptly kicked our asses in the next round but he did sort of do it. He’s not going to be able to replicate that in Pittsburgh any time soon.

I can confidently say I never saw the hype with Slaf, dude is offensively challenged. He's built like a tank and I think the scouting department had the blinders on there. Habs management have a history of not drafting BPA. Kotkaniemi over Tkachuk anyone?
Montreal's roster isn't great but it's also not this bad, St. Louis isn't really getting the most out of any player, he's out of his depth and doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

See that Buffalo managed to come back against San Jose in the third. Now that’s not something to write home about of course but that feels like a game they’d have lost in the past and the type of game current season Ottawa and Detroit would lose. Maybe they're the perennial loser Atlantic team that breaks through this year.
This might finally be the year the Leafs win the Atlantic division

Travis Green is a horrible head coach.
How anyone could look at his record in Vancouver and think "this is the right coach for our young stars" is beyond me. His entire game plan is stretch pass followed immediately by a dump in or shot from the blueline. Ottawa isn't a very good puck retrieval team either so they inevitably lose most of those battles.
They may as well save themselves some trouble and just pass it straight to the other team.
If Tkachuk wants out the Leafs should be doing everything they can to trade for him even if it means they can't re-sign Marner. Tkachuk might be less talented but at least he'll stand up for his teammates. Losing a locker room cancer like Marner would be addition by subtraction all on it's own.
Toxic Marner is toxic.
I really hope he isn't back on the team next year. Tkachuk might not be the answer but at least we know he isn't part of the problem. I don't think it would be fair to blame him for Ottawa's struggles this year either.

Yeah no to tkachuk we got a couple power forwards already we need a 2c Sam Bennett comes to my mind he’s the perfect center for us if we were gonna lose Marner a guy like tofolli would have been nice but he’s already in sj and honestly as long as we get Marner at a good price and he’s away from Matthews he’s more than fine
