I remember people being so low on the 2017 draft, saying it was one of the worst in recent years.

So far it has produced:

Mittlestadt - taken a big step this year
Necas
Suzuki
Robert Thomas

Batherson

Plus a hell of a lot other players that will be mainstays in the NHL (just not as high end). Turns out it was an extremely above average draft in the end . Dont count your chickens before they hatch.

I'm as big a Gretzky fan as it comes, but I've always been a huge Ovechkin fan too. So as much as I've never wanted anyone to beat Wayne's "big" records, I'm all for seeing this one go down at this point.

To see a record go down in your lifetime not once, but potentially twice, in a span of 30+ years, is pretty damn special.

It is an interesting watch. I'd be fine if Ovechkin never scored another goal though.

And comparing different rule era's does cloud it somewhat, but that doesn't just apply to now, but the different rules for the last century.
