Most likely because the past 3 years they went
President's Cup, Stanley Cup finalists, Stanley Cup Champs.

They are still a very good team. Fatigue may catch up, but as of now, they are better than anyone in the East
They just reminded me of the Lightnings a few years ago where they won the President Trophy then back to back Cups and then Cup Finalist.

Lots of talk in HFBruins of just getting in the playoffs and beating the Leafs in round one. That is what success looks like to them. Just beating the Leafs. That's their cup. They dont care of they get swept in round 2.

And success for the Leafs is just getting into the playoffs and beating Boston in round one...

Strange to see a Monday afternoon game on the schedule.

Cap Hit is 6.1, they have 5.6.

They have several options so not an issue.

Landeskog setback helps.
If I'm not mistaken, his cap hit to the team will be less than 6.1. Shouldn't it be 6.1 prorated for the number of days? (6.1/192)*157 = $4.98 mil. (157 days left in the season, 192 days in the season total)

$4.98 million prorated cap hit.

Atlantic looks bad so far this year.

If I’m a fan of Buffalo, Detroit, or Ottawa I’m worried and pissed at the similar results so far. Boston has been stumbling all season and Tampa hasn’t been consistent either and yet they’re still ahead of the “next year” gang. It’s still early and the standings are still tight but today was such a missed opportunity for Buffalo to leapfrog Tampa.

I think Sullivan is pretty much gone now... a coach the Pens owners did not want removed.

I think it's fair to say that Buffalo, Ottawa and Detroit have mangled their rebuilds. One of them will likely be a wildcard team this season, but none of them are remotely close to actually being competitive. Boston won't fall off completely this season, but will be stuck in the mushy middle. Same for Tampa, except they might end up taking third in the division because they will probably feast on games against Buffalo, Detroit, etc.

You would think, but Fenway apparently loves Sullivan.
I do find it ironic Dubas gets let go from here because he wanted more power, and now he goes to a team where he doesn't have authority to fire the coach.
All though Dubas did let assistant Rierden go which Sullivan wasn't happy that Dubas did that so don't know.

I'm sure he probably does have the authority to fire Sullivan, but at the same time what would be the point in doing so? A new coach isn't going to reverse what is happening in Pittsburgh.
