McBain would just be a great 3C for us.. but no chance they trade him. While I love the goal, you just hate to see the World's Best Defenseman, Lane Hutson get beat like that.

McBain's SO% is an absurd 44% on the season. Even if they did make him available, and whatever his other attributes, we'd be paying a premium for a guy whose offensive production is clearly unsustainable. There are better options, IMO. But, yeah... big yikes on that Hudson pinch.

SJ just dominated the Sens but got .600 goaltending.

SJ outshot Ottawa 39 - 11 and lost 4-3. The Sens only managed to put up 11 shots in a game against San Jose - yeah I don’t think that’s a playoff team.

In the East, the Senators may end up being a playoff team simply because of how mediocre the conference has become.

Brought back memories:

The game summary from what is now simply called the “New Year's Eve game” of 1975 showed the Montreal Canadiens with 38 shots and CSKA Moscow with 13. Yet, the score was 3-3, and this was a figure that held so much more meaning. The shots weren't representative of any overwhelming margin of play by the Canadiens.

The assumption being, that I'm interested in him, based upon this years production, which is far from the case. He will be a guy who will put up between 30-40 points for a few years, while bringing a lot of intangibles to the table.

Just saw that Adam Gaudette has 11 goals. He may hit 30 this year. Wow. He was just an average Marlie two years ago. It will be interesting to see if he's just getting really lucky or if he's a late, late bloomer (28 years old).

I’d lean on lucky

Shooting 35% and 1.5 shots per game. Getting only 10 mins of TOI too on average this season.

Pretty much the same as McMann.

Based on what was written around the time, the guy from Toronto was an asshole and no one wanted to deal with him.
Well, yes. Starting a “new” league is still quite the flex.

I wish the “a league founded on spite” portion of NHL history had a more prominent place in the narrative. 🤣

I thought the Toskala goal was gonna be the worst one I ever saw in my life.

Until I saw Lindgren put it in his own net. He was already having a bad night. Between him and Vasieveleaksy it was a goaltending dual of the wrong type.

So hard to believe the Capitals actually won that game.

Gotta think Carbery is gonna win the Jack Adams award. Even without Ovechkin Washington keeps rolling. I'm not annointing them cup contenders or anything.

But squeezing what he has out of that roster is impressive.

I'm not sure what the point is for the Rangers making it public knowledge Trouba and Kreider are up for grabs. Unless they think it's addition by subtraction they're gonna have a hard time upgrading both those players for a cup run. At least they don't have to worry about their goaltending I guess.

Can't say the same for, lol, Washington, lol, or Tampa either for that matter.

There are a few NHL teams with huge amounts of Cap Space.

So is the goal to rid the team of their contracts, and backfill with prospects / cheaper players, or to change the make-up of the team.

IIRC Trouba doesn't want Canada.

Ducks have assets to do both ... that would be interesting.

I could see the Ducks wanting to move on from Zegras but I think it would be a mistake to trade one of their three young stud defensemen.

Rangers would have to take back Fowler in a deal like that too I would think if they were getting both Kreider and Trouba.
