Around the League - 2024-2025 Part II

Kings are done. Oilers completely dominated play and the score could've been much worse. Hiller's coaching and Byfield not getting the puck out in the previous two games sealed their fate

Kuemper on an island for 5 straight periods. Shots 80-34 since the start of the 3rd of game 4 lmao
It sounds like LA played to win the series instead of the cup and they've showed all their tricks now and are exhausted

Ott leads all teams in hits for the playoffs. Tor is 4th. They are hitting but there is not a lot of after whistle stuff
Baby hits and the odd stupid cross check into the boards and certainly the least entertaining series. The MSPN panel was making fun of that series again last night.

Edmonton faced a similar situation as Toronto except they were actually pouring it on all game with high quality chances, not average chances the stats always say are "High danger chances" when based on watching the game they were not. That's a consistent storyline with people defending this team in elimination games every year based on this high danger chances stat when the chances were actually not high danger at all. A deflected point shot with traffic is more high danger than a muffin from the left circle sometimes. Which shows the limited ability of these stats anyway.

In any case, Kuemper actually played an elite game and made spectacular saves. Edmonton even fell behind 0-1 early. They didn't fold. They kept pressing and forced a rebound goal. Then they gritted another goal as soon as the powerplay ended. Somehow they can figure it out but the Leafs have to fold.

I saw someone complain in a thread how Edmonton was so lucky to have playoff success when the Leafs are better - the Leafs are not better offensively. Our core 4 doesn't even deserve to be in the same room as edms top 2 scorers.

Sure isn't.

Was/Mon has been a great series.

LA/Edm too but mostly because McDavid and Drai are ridiculous.

Leafs/Sens always racing to seecwho can win 1-0
This is a very good way to describe this series. Despite all the doom and gloom, the Leafs will win the series, but I hope the second round is at least better hockey to watch.

All things considered, it's been a boring, lacklustre series. The games have the feel of regular season Wednesday night games. Slow pace of play.

Then you watch all the Western series and they blow what we're subjected to watch out of the water.
I wish the Leafs could play like Edm when they are going.

Edm is never out of a game, out of a series no matter what.

Last two games it doean't even look like LA is a NHL team. Edm is relentless.

They have glaring holes but can overcome them with how hard they play.

Big part of why they can do that and we can't is their two best players are like light years better then ours. They actually get better in the playoffs too.

They truly are remarkable.

For all the grief they get the truth is they were 1 game away from winning it all last year, lost in the WCF to the Cup champs and have had far more success than the Leafs in May

Edmonton hates to lose. We merely dislike it.

Edmonton has two demons on the ice that terrorize opposing teams. We know who those demons are.

When those demons decide they want to take over the rest of the team bows down to them and follow suit.

We break sticks on the bench.

I’d settle for Auston Matthews playing at a Trevor Moore level.

Why has criticism about our core and their playoff failures been met with such hostility from our own fanbase?

Just an insane amount of excuses and looking to blame anyone but the main players.

Crazy stat -- McDavid has almost as many playoff points (52) in the last five playoff rounds as Matthews does his career (54). In half the games (30 vs. 60).

Insanity.
