This is not really true except for the Leafs have had their way.

They have smoked a lot of good teams this year and are just like the Leafs.

Win a few in a row. Lose a few.

Pretty much like every team in the league outside Win and Was so far.
They have absolutely not "smoked" a lot of good teams. Go look at their game log this season. What they have done is smoked a lot of really bad teams.

Tampa is creeping up, only 2 points back of Toronto
Tampa is the only team Im confident we can both

1) Beat in a seven game series

2) all of the core 4 pile points

They get destroyed by the leafs and have for 3+ years now. We need tamoa R1 so dont care if we come 2nd or 3rd but thats our best shot at R2 play

They play their worst hockey when that is the case
Nah, the results don't actually support that. I get the narrative about the Leafs losing to bad teams, but it's not correct. They beat crappy teams because it requires maybe 8 minutes of work on their part to do it. I wish they had a more difficult schedule to finish the season.

Yes, they are Top 3rd. of the league, in 9th. position points percentage.

So they win around 62% of their games.

Though it's really been Benoit who has been the problem this year... as much as he was good last year.

I don't watch as many Leafs games anymore.
I watch as many NHL games, but chose other games over the Leafs now.

I just see so many mistakes Timmins makes but really it isn't like they have one of the better groups of defensemen, but for the most part they are NHL players.

Drop off from Tanev is dramatic, but they have to play them. Heck they had to give Tanev a contract he is unlikely to fulfill.

ES TOI/g
Rielly
McCabe
Ekman-Larsson
Tanev
Myers
Timmins
Benoit

Benoit is sitting at 41.2% Expected Goals, Timmins is at 49.6%... ya, just one fancy stat and all. On the other hand, Benoit is one of the best D on the team, at 2.1 GA/60.... Only Tanev is better.

Benoit, much like Holl before him... was very good, with a good teammate in McCabe. He needs a stabilizer, and Timmins isn't that.

We could use a top 4 RHD, to move OEL or McCabe down to the bottom pair with Timmins... they have been decent together.

OEL and Tanev together have been VERY good. 14 goals for, 3 against. McCabe does work well with Benoit and Timmins. Get Rielly someone to play with, who suits his style, and the D core suddenly looks pretty good.

Kind of like getting another top 6 forward, preferably center.

It isn't the asset alone that is important, it is that the other assets aren't asked to play above their tier.

I suspect that Matthew Tkachuk will be out for a long while for the Panthers.
Reportedly a Groin Injury, that isn't very good. I guess we shall see.

Tkachuk and McAvoy likely out long-term, doesn't hurt us in the Division at all. Hopefully we can put together a streak here, and take over the division.
