Did they seriously snub Mogilny again? Wtf the story there?
Mogilny is basically just short of a number of the bigger milestones. Stopped short of 1000 games, 500 goals, 600 assists and 1100 points. He's certainly one of the bigger names to not make it in, but it is kind of amazing how many big names with achievements are not actually in the HoF. They finally just elected Turgeon who was the only 1,300 point guy not in the Hall. Now we move to the 1200 points guys (Roenick, Damphousse and Nichols) and the 500 goal guys (Verbeek, Bondra, Tkachuk, and Roenick).Did they seriously snub Mogilny again? Wtf the story there?
I get what you are saying regarding just being shy of some randomly selected round numbers. I would counter with 6 time NHL All-Star, 2000 Cup Champ, 1993 Goal-scoring leader (tied with Teemu), and he's a member of the Triple Gold Club.Mogilny is basically just short of a number of the bigger milestones. Roenick is the guy who is absolutely being robbed at this point IMO. Mogilny is in the top 5 though. Just goes to show how tough it really is and how far many guys have to go. Rants pretty much need 700 more points to have a good case (300 of them goals). MacK needs 450 points and ~225 more goals (2-3 more good seasons and he enters near lock territory). Makar already has his hardware out of the way, he just needs to finish is 20s with a PPGish pace (60+ per 82 likely seals it). Nobody else really has a shot.
That's the spirit!Almost no one should be in the hall of fame. And even those who are should all be players I like.
Most certainly I believe Mogilny deserves to be in, just saying the reason he's not in is that he fell just short in a number of the major categories.I get what you are saying regarding just being shy of some randomly selected round numbers. I would then also suggest that it's not the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame.
Mogilny kind of has this little thing in history where he was the very first person to defect from the USSR to play in the NHL. That is HUGE and absolutely should count towards his induction. The fact that he's not in, I think, says more about those voting, and their issues, than it does him.
You could argue as far back as Dick Duff that the Hall of Fame fell to the tier of Hall of Very Good, but it was certainly cemented when Nieuwendyk got in. Cat's out of the bag now.Almost no one should be in the hall of fame. And even those who are should all be players I like.
See. That's how I feel when NHL teams are scoring too many goals. Or the government is printing too much money.HHoF is meaningless now. It's basically the equivalent of the WWE HoF lol.
HHoF is meaningless because they accepted too many "good" players instead of keeping it the elite of the elite.See. That's how I feel when NHL teams are scoring too many goals. Or the government is printing too much money.
The point is too much of something devalues it.HHoF is meaningless because they accepted too many "good" players instead of keeping it the elite of the elite.
Totally different scenario than scoring goals which is the literal aim of the game of hockey lol.
It's not a "this applies to all situations" thing, though. The point is too much of something devalues it.
Same with the Rock & Roll HOFHHoF is meaningless now. It's basically the equivalent of the WWE HoF lol.
The HHOF should consist of only players from the SCF Champions in 96, 01, and 22. And everyone but DK should make the cut.Almost no one should be in the hall of fame. And even those who are should all be players I like.
How does one get some of this money?See. That's how I feel when NHL teams are scoring too many goals. Or the government is printing too much money.
Some of the people who have way too much influence like Lou Lams didn't like Mogilny.Did they seriously snub Mogilny again? Wtf the story there?
