Dirty f***s. But we held our own against them and sent plenty of pain back their way. Blake seems to have noticed as he shipped off alot of the small guys we were able to bully and then brought in an Eichel-lite-lite in PLD to try to match our Centers.

You want to have big expectations and hype, well you deserve to be put on blast if that's how you're going to come out of the gate.
You cannot escape criticism and also proclaim yourself to be a contender with defense that poor. That should be played at the Oilers practice tomorrow.

I don't see Vegas or Colorado coming out of the gate like that. It was...bad in every way. You know, you have a fan base that is more loyal and devoted to your team than most any other city. After all the expectations and hype, to come out and play like that is a beyond disappointing. Hope they prove that that was a one-off quickly.

They didn't take long to kind of lose me as an ardent fan this year. Been busy so not really following camp etc. but watching this first game (or the first half I should say), definately put a damper on the spirit I had for the season.

The kid on the main board throwing his jersey in the water after getting McDavid's signature made me wonder.
Why did the Oilers host an autograph signing on a random Thursday when kids are in school? Couldn't have done it xmas break or spring break?
Found it also a little odd that Ekholm line was pretty short according to the kid scout that went to the 1440 station and gave Gregor a scouting report. lol
Wasn't shocked that Nurse had a short line, although still a little odd that kids would care that much. When I was a kid seeing any NHLer was something. Got signatures from all sorts of plugs as a kid and I didn't care because it was a NHLer

Toews signs a 7-year extension for $2M less than what Nurse makes. That contract is the gift that keeps on giving.

Vegas already 4pts ahead and taking care of business. Strange how the team that won it all has somehow more focus and execution than the team that was once again an also ran. Vegas not only won both of their games they were in control of both of them and only gave up a goal in each.
Thing is people say well just wait till the rematch. Even granting an Oilers win thats still a split against a club that missed playoffs last season. News to the Oilers is that a lot of teams have improved in offseason, more than the Oilers have, and there will be more parity this season and less free games on the calendar.

Silly reply. The Oilers talked all offseason about wanting to nail down first in division, first even in conference. McD was spouting off about that just last week, once again. They go out and get pummelled 8-1 in the opening game. Its called not taking care of business. Vegas staked out first place last season by starting season 13-2. The Oilers spend the rest of the season exhausting themselves trying to roll that margin back.

Maybe this is news to you but one game is all we have to discuss. What a f*** up of a game.
Nobody is saying the season is over or anything like that. Its just deflating for fans to wait for so long for a game and it ends up being that shitshow.
