Athletic guess was he’s worth $5.5 on the open market…but it also think he’s wildly improved his impacts this year and I think that’s unlikely to be true.
A team hoping Zacha improves something and him disappointing. Tell me a more iconic duo.The “market value” is not meant to show what he should get or deserves. It also fluctuates. It just allows you to compare what a player is contributing as compared to what they are paid.
Him barely making it to his future salary on a team that is ridiculously successful in every way is not that impressive.
It is what it is due to ice time, metrics and ok overall production, the elephant in the room is he’s a very complimentary forward with only 5 goals.
I thought he would be thriving more as a secondary threat with way less responsibilities on that a team that dominate. You can see how much easier his match-ups are by looking at his “Usage” numbers on that chart. I honestly thought he would score more goals if he got cushier minutes.
Kudos to Pavel, he can disappoint me even after we traded him.
His defense metrics were actually shockingly pretty solid last season and are even better this season, which contributes to his value. But I assume a lot of Bruins have good or great defensive metrics.
They don’t have a whole lot of other options at forward and they’re likely hoping he can pull his shooting % up. It always does feel like it should be better but, alas, it almost never is.
His jfresh card is mediocre.
On the same night Haula scores no less. The “market value” is not meant to show what he should get or deserves. It also fluctuates. It just allows you to compare what a player is contributing as compared to what they are paid.

Yep congrats indeed.A steal! Congrats to Pav
This is why we don't do the same thing with Wood, Blackwood (even though he'd only be for a year) after this year and really need to think hard about what kind of contract we're giving Graves, should we extend him.Been said already, but I'm really glad we didn't sign Zacha to that contract.
Not only would he probably continue to massively underperform here, but it would take needed cap space away from our other guys who actually deserve their raises.
If you're too short for a goaltender, you better have lightning quick reflexes 'cause Teams are going to go top-shelf everytime on you.Too short, AHL career sucked. He was supposed to be the Canes goalie of the future in the later Cam Ward years, but regressed in the AHL. FINALLY got a crack at about 26 years old in the covid season (AKA: the season of 3 goalies per NHL roster) and after being passed on waivers maybe more than once in his career, including once that season? Overachieved in very limited action in the covid season and playoffs. Much like Mrazek did behind the same team (in less games, albeit) which got a 3 year deal Dubas and much like almost every goalie that's played there since the painful Ward and Darling years. Including the two old injury cases they got now (who have regressed this year, though Andersen hasn't played a sizable number of games yet) and I'm not surprised.
First of all, he's just too short. I call bullshit on 6 foot. Closer to 5 foot 10 or maybe even shorter. Too small, plays too small. Could have another decent season as a backup in the NHL, but I overrated him a bit and liked this deal from Detroit. That's an instance on goalie evaluation where I'll take my licks and say I couldn't have been more wrong.
He started out last year looking pretty good, but I'm pretty sure he's been an .890% since December of 2021 and has played close to 50 games in the NHL since then.
He didn't look that bad to me last year, but he's been a complete liability in the games he's played this year. I remember the Buffalo game he played and a few other BAD ones this year in October, before they stopped playing him. I don't think he's played hardly since, but has had conditioning games in the AHL recently.
It'll be interesting to see if anybody picks him up, as he's a UFA after this year I'm pretty sure. So they wouldn't have to claim him with term.
Still snakebitten like NJD Pavel goalwise but.... At least he settled in and GM had some nice comments on the media availability about his game.
Zacha’s defensive numbers improved a ton in his last season in NJ.Still happy for our boy Pavs!
The fans there apparenrly like his versatility and 200' game and apparently plays better defense there than he did here.

As long as he doesnt dagger us when it really matters....

Winger Zacha>>Center Zacha. I was saying that for years
He’s Zacha. He is what he is and he’s a talented but flawed NHL player. His problems are in his head and mostly in his heart. I will just never believe he loves hockey and his backstory just reinforces that for me. He will only be so good unless and until he can ever learn to just “go for it” but every day that goes by I think that is less likely. My suspicion is Zacha thinks it isn’t likely either as he chose not to bet on himself which in my view is further support for my point. That doesn’t make him a bad person and in a veteran team he can contribute but he was asked for more by NJ and it wasn’t to be.In the main board thread Bruins fans talked up Zacha’s ability to play center and seem think he might do more of that.
Yes, if his wingers are Taylor Hall and David Pastrnak that line probably looks good on the ice (that line existed for 41 minutes).
Zacha’s played a total of 524 minutes 5v5 on and 257 minutes were with Krejci, 111 minutes were with Coyle and 44 minutes were with Bergeron. He’s mostly played wing 5v5.
I feel like this is a good time to point out he has a total of 2 5v5 goals.
