Speaking of expansion draft. Our genius GM had to keep Holl and Kerfoot and let Jared McCann go.

Don't know how many times it needs to be said, but Dubas didn't protect Kerfoot. Seattle could have easily just taken him.

We traded for McCann so we didn't end up having a hole on our LW depth chart. Nothing more. We didn't "choose" McCann over Kerfoot. Seattle did. We chose Holl over protecting those guys.

Losing Holl is far more difficult and expensive to deal with than replacing a complimentary winger who wouldn't get anywhere close to the opportunities that he has been given in Seattle and would have needed to maintain his ridiculous shooting percentage to justify the difference in cap between him and Jarnkrok/Bunting. He'd also need to be significantly better in the playoffs, because his playoff resume is a massive yikes.

And yes, Holl, despite having some rough times not much unlike McCabe, Gio, and even Brodie at times, has been an extremely important and often effective member of that defense who is widely unappreciated by this fanbase and will likely be able to cash in with another team. IDK how much longer he will be effective given he is in his 30's, but he was able to take massive strides from his time with the Marlies where he looked a lot less impressive.

In the end, we traded a prospect who busted and a 7th to not have to lose a key player off our roster for nothing. That is a massive win.

A lot of comments in the GDT and PGT are " at least we aren't the Leafs".

That after an Oilers loss.

What will Oil fans be saying when they're eliminated next game? "McDavid played one more game than Matthews".

Shouldn't they put the world's most expensive backup in net for a least one game?

Useless fanbase.

It would be nice to see Dallas get through tonight. Just too bad it will come at the expense of the only other team i have any interest in.

Who is part of Seattle's core 4? How much are they making? Is Haxtol a good coach? My goodness, they aren't rolling over.

They are playing like Vegas a few years back. Just refuse to give up and keep fighting back.
We need a coach who can preach that to the players and players to buy in.

Kevin Bieksa auditioning for front office job on the Leafs.

Sounds a lot more attuned that many of the "analysts" on SportsNet.
He is a pretty intelligent guy and knows what’s Cup Contender looks like and what players need to do.
He was part of the leadership of a President Cup team and Cup Finalist. More than any of our guys not name ROR.
He might be a good asst. coach for the Leafs.
