he made Phaneuf contract disappear without retention and completely shutdown Lupul's yapping. I'd forver be grateful for that for Lou. His only bad signing was giving Zaitsev that extension (although only 4 AAV); other than that he wasn't that bad here. Including Marleau contract because Tavares was not in the picture.

Lou was pretty good here IMO

when the going gets tough; the tough get going. Its about self belief. I still remember 2 series very well where the team was down and out found a way to grind

LA Vs Sharks - down 3-0 in the series found a way to win the series in 7 and go on to win the cup
Philly Vs Boston - down 3-0 in the series found a way to win the series in 7 and went all the way to the SCF but ran into absolutely stacked Hawks

If Canes can channel the self belief they can go the distance. Its the mindset man. Gotta stop feeling sorry for yourself; the more challenging it gets; you raise your game even more to go for glory.

hockey players' career is a short one they are not looking to work 30 to 35 years and then retire hoping enough is saved up for retirement assuming one is lucky enough to live long and enjoy retirement.

Hockey players have what? at most 10 to 15 yr period; there should be urgency to their game. Especially if they want to achieve something. Not everyone is going to be Hayley Wickenheiser who retires, goes to medschool and becomes a physician. She is just a superb role model ;)

Marleau was pretty sick for 1.5 years. We could use his playoff performance in year 1 right now.

So odd how he went from 100 to 0 in the span of 1 game, but Lou and the entire management did say they only expected max 2 years from Marleau before it's dead cap.

Not blaming Fleury for the score as 3 of the 4 goals were of high difficulty, but the decision makes zero sense. So what if they alternated goalies down the stretch for a while and this was the plan all long? Roll with the guy who was the main reason why you weren't in a dogfight to make the playoffs, and basically stole game 1.

Marleau was defensively solid even in his 2nd year in the playoffs IMO and was skating pretty good too pressuring puck.

i was against trading marleau's contract for his 3rd yr; we should have tanked that season IMO get a pick and then move on. We traded marleau with 1st; instead we should have traded johnsson and kapanen to get some picks.

those picks would be helping us right now on cheap ELCs
