Ya it would certainly be an intimate experience lolToronto Tampa was de facto ECF, just like in 19 vs Boston. Neither of these teams or Florida would’ve particularly scared me in a series and I expect Tampa to roll
I want to go there once to see it in person before they pull the plug, would make for a nice golf weekend if they go in the fall winter and especially if the cards are still playing as well.
Same here, happens every year. I love it.I don’t think there is a goalie in the league I enjoy seeing getting shelled more than Mike Smith.
The rink up the road the Vancouver giants play in (Langley events centre) is biggerYa it would certainly be an intimate experience lol
I can see Oilers outbidding us for Soup.I don’t think there is a goalie in the league I enjoy seeing getting shelled more than Mike Smith.
He might look and act the part of a old time hawkey guy, but his teams have always had good metrics & he understands the value of things like possession and has always been further ahead of the curve as he lets onCalgary has a huge team that can actually play great .
Let themI can see Oilers outbidding us for Soup.
He’s just such a gas can it’s familiar territory nowI don’t think there is a goalie in the league I enjoy seeing getting shelled more than Mike Smith.
It was great based on the standards of the day, which is all you can really go by. 40 years ago, assistant coaches, video, and complex systems were in their infancy. 40 years from now, some will probably call today's game dinosaur hockey. If you've ever seen pre-war NHL footage, you'll find it difficult to believe today's game or even 80s hockey evolved from that.I’m watching the hype video on Tim & Friends highlighting the battle of Alberta through the years in the post season and I literally never want to hear any dinosaur on here talk about how great the hockey was back then after being reminded how putrid the defensive structure and more so goaltending was back then watching the game/series winning goals from those 82-91 battles.
Poor Smitty.I don’t think there is a goalie in the league I enjoy seeing getting shelled more than Mike Smith.
I’m in my late thirties and used to watch back then(not early 80’s but was a full on fan by 6-7-8 and I agree with your assessment… I just roll my eyes at people when they say it was better back in the day.It was great based on the standards of the day, which is all you can really go by. 40 years ago, assistant coaches, video, and complex systems were in their infancy. 40 years from now, some will probably call today's game dinosaur hockey. Those Oilers-Flames games were also before the '05 rule changes, which put much more speed into the game, eliminated a lot of obstruction, and made pure goons obsolete. That was arguably the biggest before-and-after dividing line in NHL history
Poor Smitty.
