Yeah I don't think it is coaching. Coaching plays in if you aren't getting looks. Our guys got looks, they just couldn't convert. And then they panicked and reverted to iso, which especially doesn't work when people aren't converting.

I don't think their PP coaches are telling them to play iso. Unless three different coaches don't have eyes, they know it doesn't work.
Our looks are pathetic in comparison. Matthews rarely ever gets the puck in a shooting position. No team respects Rielly point shot. Tavares wasted infront of the net.

Tampa has 2 shooters on each circle (stammer and kuch) plus Hedman has a blast from the blue line.

Matthews had the puck in shooting positions. He just took forever to get his shot off and missed far too often when he did. It was the same thing at ES too. He took far too long to get his shot off and lost his space. You don't get that time in the playoffs, and he couldn't one time for his life.

People also do realize that Tampa doesn't set Hedman up for one time slap shots either. He beat us the same way rielly beat them on the PP, and he beat us with a soft wrister in traffic; a shot that has been effective for Rielly when he uses it. Maybe that is a solution for our PP when Matthews and Nylander do not have it going.

Ultimately, our PP was too slow and then it was forcing things when they couldn't speed things up. Tampa's PP is no more talented than ours. Matthews has the best shot in the league and can get it off quick. Nylander's is nice too. Their guys don't take 5 seconds to make a decision with the puck. Our guys, with 3 different PP coaches in 3 years, have yet to figure that out, and instead think the solution is to pass it around the outside or force it to a seam to get that space.

It is also funny that our 2nd PP has that problem a lot less often, even when Rielly was on it at times, but they don't have nearly as much talent or puck moving skill with the forwards so they have different limitations, just like Tampa’s 2nd unit.

Avs up 2 to 1 now. Now THAT'S how you build a championship team. I'd be salivating if I were an Avs fan. Instead, I'm a status quo is kings fan of the Leafs. Woe is me lol

I am finding it hard to think anyone can keep up with the Avs this year tbh. They are by far the most complete team top to bottom. They don't have the same holes the Leafs had and the Leafs took the Lightning to 7. Mackinnon and Makar would blitz past their slower D and Rantanen is large enough to actually forecheck against their team and is outright bigger than all of their forwards.

Avs win in OT.

Seeing-eye wrist shot from the point -- we gotta get us some of those.

Isn't that how most of our defensemen score? Besides jumping up on the rush.

Who knows, maybe having Rielly/Sandin/Liljegren shoot the puck more often would be a good thing for this team. They can all shoot, so why not?

I've been fooled before when the Avs had impressive game ones, only to lose the series.

They're still too much style not enough substance until I see different.
