Fun fact: Trotz was in the playoffs 8 times before winning a round. His first 4 times he won 6 games.

Wasnt he the first coach in Nashville history. From expansion team to playoff team?

I mean i doubt he had a 60 goal scorer, Marner and Tavares then got to play Columbus and lousy Habs

Maurice isn't a great coach. He had one fluke run to the finals in 2002, that was it.

No, the circumstances are certainly not identical. That said one also wasn't faced with a playoff season after a layoff longer than the normal offseason, no fans, people sitting from COVID, bubbles, restricted travel etc.

I'm a huge Trotz supporter. Have been for many years. Every now and then I call out people who are doing obvious things.

Thing you need to understand about Trotz is despite how good he is, his success was always very limited until given an all star roster. In that sense, yes, Toronto might get him there. Took him 16 years before he won a playoff round and 19 years before he won more than 1 round.
