No, the league just doesn't want you to win your annual playoff analytics pool.Yep you ain't paranoid - like you just said, the league does in fact change how it refs games based on what the Leafs say and do.

There is no doubt Avs and Leafs are very close. The diff is really one team figured out how to close out a series while another don't. There is no denying that talentwise, both Leafs and Avs are on the same tier.I could argue many ways that the Avs and Leafs are very close. This is just one.
Btw - the Avs have been one of the biggest playoffs flops of this era.

If they three peat I don't think any fan will care too much if the run is over. Heck I'm sure some are happy with the 2.

If Avs is considered to be one of the biggest playoffs flops of this era, then what do we call our Leafs, where they can't even pass the 1st rounds in the past 6 years and our top guys seems pull a disappearing act when it is an elimination game, I guess playoffs chokes should cover it.
The difference is largely that Colorado plays in the West, and got to face far weaker teams without their #1 goalies, while constantly being gifted more PPs than their opponents. There is no doubt Avs and Leafs are very close. Did Mack ever disappeared in playoffs? The avs have been beating up on first round fodder for years now. They have had a lot of luck on their side.
Even the worst opponents Toronto has faced have been very strong defensively.

Past 3 playoffs, net PPs
Toronto: -1
Colorado: +38
Like game management only applies to specific teamsThe only constant over the last several years is how Colorado always gets a large benefit in PP vs PK opportunities… in both the regular season and playoffs.
Remarkable.
Lindgren is a warrior, he deserves a goal
Sergachev is a warrior, he deserves a goal.
Tampa is so damn clutch.
Opposite of the Leafs.
Winners win. Losers lose.Christ Tampa. How can they keep doing this?
We had these guys on the f***ing ropes man.....
