What is "everything else" that has been confirmed as true?
The same article made allegations that there were concerns about DeAngelo's treatment of Miller, though they did not cite any specific examples. They cite "multiple sources" saying his treatment of Miller had become a concern, though they had also cited "multiple sources" regarding the puck incident that was later proven false. Has a reputable source confirmed anything regarding his treatment of Miller being part of the issue?
The altercation with Georgiev has essentially been verified and that seemed to be the final straw for the Rangers. David Quinn is on record saying "This isn’t about one incident. It’s not about one thing."
Has any more detail come out regarding what exactly happened between DeAngelo and Georgiev or the other issues this season (since the Rangers felt comfortable enough to sign him to an extension this past offseason) that led to the Rangers waiving him? I have no doubt he did things to deserve that, I'm just curious what has actually been verified since there seem to be a lot of rumors going around.
It definitely was not a good for those rumors about Miller to go as far as they did without Miller’s participation. It put Miller in a bad spot, if he has something he wants to publicly say about DeAngelo then he’ll say it. That’s why blogs aren’t seen as serious journalism.
We can’t peer into DeAngelo’s soul and I don’t find it productive to debate just how terrible a person he is. Tampa traded him two years after drafting him, Arizona trading him one year after trading for him and he lasted three seasons (and 8 games) with the NYR organization before wearing out his welcome there. I think it’s safe to say he’s not a persecuted victim here. The Rags will likely buy him out if they can’t trade him.
We aren’t ever likely to get that much more info. Some comments did make it sound like DeAngelo was, understandably, on his best behavior before the contract was signed. The Rangers, having failed to trade him and not wanting to lose him for nothing, may have convinced themselves it would work out.
