The addition of Dach and Kubalik has really propelled Chicago this season. Those players (like NY) have already helped accelerate their mini rebuilds.

Kubalik is dangerous on the ice EVERY shift and Dach plays such a simple but effective game - he's gained a ton of confidence as this season has progressed.
 
Man Seth Jones is so good. Every time I watch Columbus play I'm impressed.

I really think if he played for a Canadian team or North East team he'd be considered one of the best Dmen in the NHL.

They're rarely out of a game when Seth Jones is healhty. Despite being plagued with injuries (at one point inf Feb/Mar they were down 10 skaters) they finished the year 3rd best defesive team in the NHL.

And Jones is incredible. He might be the best young d in the NHL.
 
The Leafs are bad. Not a believer in their roster makeup, and their D is an utter mess without Muzzin and tbh it wasn’t great with him either. Their forward group feels so redundant, they could actually use Kadri because otherwise they are not a good mix for a playoff team.

Makes me think of our draft slot and makes me even more convinced we have to take Byfield. At his ceiling, he’s Malkin - which is the kind of player the Leafs sorely need.

Kubalik never did much until he was moved up to the top line, then he took off. Should be interesting to see how year 2 goes, after the huge contract demand .
 
I can't wait to watch the CBJ/TOR game tomorrow.

This is the 3rd year in a row in which CBJ has been a pain in the ass for a higher ranked playoff opponent.

They gave the Capitals problems in 2018 (who went on to win the cup), then the Lightning last year, now Toronto this year.

I really loathe the Leafs and their fans, but it’s plain as day to see how and why Dean designed his team in LA vs the makeup of this Leafs team.

Just that image of a focused Williams sitting on the bench in a hoodie while Mitchell was busy prodding him with the end of his stick and laughing it off speaks volume.

This Leafs team doesn’t know who they are or what kind of team they desire to be. I have a feeling that if Dean was inserted at this juncture he would make a few ‘hockey trades’ asap and or down the road.

The Leafs looked incredibly soft down the stretch in that game yesterday. For as talented as Matthews is, he seems mostly invisible in these high pressure situations where the game (and the season) is on the line.

There's something to be said for coaches like Sutter and Tortorella who know how to get their players wound up emotionally. Coaching is about more than just X's and O's.

I can get behind Winnipeg taking Byfield first overall or trading down with us so we can take Lafreniere first overall.
