Matthew Tkachuk is def. the new POS rat Matt Cooke.

Unbelievable the crap he just pulled on Mark Scheifele (similar to what Cooke did to EK).

Milbury: That was a hook and worth a penalty shot on MTL
Milbury : Johnson did wrap him up pretty good, but IDK if i'd call that a penalty shot on PITT , he barely held him and the slashes weren't much.

From a thread on the main board:

Seven-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick headlines NBC Sports’ roster of play-by-play commentators for the Stanley Cup Qualifiers and Playoffs, along with Mike Tirico, John Forslund, Kenny Albert, Brendan Burke, and Gord Miller.

Eddie Olczyk, Mike Milbury, and AJ Mleczko will serve as game analysts, while Pierre McGuire and Brian Boucher will provide insights from their customary ‘Inside-the-Glass’ roles.

Liam McHugh, Kathryn Tappen and Tirico will anchor NBC Sports’ studio coverage alongside Patrick Sharp, Keith Jones, and Anson Carter. Olczyk, Jones and Carter will contribute to both studio and game coverage.

Forslund, Milbury and Boucher will be on-site in Toronto, while McGuire will be based in Edmonton.

Emrick will provide commentary from a home studio in Michigan. All other game and studio commentary will originate from NBC Sports’ studios in Stamford, Conn.

Imagine being quarrentined with Milbury and McGuire for 2-4 weeks.

I dunno, I’d be as happy as anyone to see Tkachuk get what’s coming to him but im not sure he did anything there. Looked more like Schiefle’s skate got caught in the boards.

tkachuk was just angry he missed the body check so he stuck something out there to get a piece, it just so happened to be a skate blade into scheifele's achilles

not like he stomped him intentionally but sometimes if you juggle a chainsaw you catch the blade

I'm happy to have hockey back, but this feels like a half-ass product. It's clearly not as good a normal playoff hockey.

I'd prefer they just cancelled the rest of the season.

i find myself forgetting at times that it's an abnormal situation to be honest

the absence of a true crowd is a little weird cause you know the place would be jumping for this game, but i dunno. feels like a regular season game, not a playoff game for sure

Thats what i saw too. Not sure why he felt he needed to put his skate up like that to make the hit. There may not be an injury if he keep it on the ice.

As a smaller player on the ice trying to gain an edge, I sometimes ‘innocently’ dragged my back skates to hide a slew foot. It could be against the boards, center ice, wherever.

I knew what I was doing every time. I got called on it very rarely, but when I did, it was always a 10 min penalty or a match 5 min and ejected.

In addition, when going hard into the boards and making sure your skates follow through on a hit, you are 100% aware of where your skates are, when then land, and if they make contact with your opponents skates. This is an extremely dirty follow through of a hit (I didn’t even attempt this dirty of a play in my days) and Tkachuk knows exactly what he did.

I see the Oilers went full Eakins last night:

Jets lost Laine too. Ouch.

As much as I dislike Tkachuk, I can’t fault him on what happened to Scheifele. Very unfortunate play.

Nice that hockey is back, but I don’t think I can get into it. Just very strange to see it being played in August to empty buildings. Might watch a bit here and there, but that’s about it.

I’m just not even sure he touched him. Unfortunately the best angle to see what happened, the one directly from behind on the opposite side of the rink, doesn’t show their feet once they get close to the boards. A lot of people are saying he was cut but that’s not how he was acting. Looked more like his knee to me. Anyway unfortunate loss for the Jets for sure.

i still don't understand the laine injury, giordano's crosscheck was to his right arm, they were feeling his left hand as if he broke the hand

only thing i can guess is that on that same play he bent his wrist weird over the dasher or something, maybe it just sent a stinger down the hand too

The NHL isn't going to be the one pro sport that doesn't try and make this work.

I dunno....watching the Panthers/Coyotes play didn't seem too out of the ordinary.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't know what Nashville does to get over the hump at this point. A lot of guys close to or at 30 with long term deals. Josi has more than doubled his cap hit after the age of 30. They managed to get rid of 100% of Subban's contract, but didn't get better, and shifted all that space to Duchene. Johansen for Jones has either broken even in the past, or now slid in the Jackets favor. Unless they can pull off another Forsberg miracle trade, where is that franchise headed?

that josi contract is absolute insanity, i'm sure they pull 4 quality years from it but a good skater doesn't stay a good skater deep into his 30s. i assume that was the goal though, LTIRetire him at the last few years

i think they missed their chance, personally i love that
