The Carolina Hurricanes have added Peter Harrold to their coaching staff.

In addition, the Canes also named a new massage therapist, Mike Maresca, formerly with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. Harrold was named as a skills coach for Carolina. He had a 10-year career in the NHL as an undrafted defenseman, playing with Los Angeles and New Jersey.

Even more reason to be concerned that one of these really good "playoff" teams falter in the play-in round due to the CV situation that they normally would not.....thus getting into the lottery and winning that #1 Laf selection. But at least we have #2....need to solely focus on that positive i guess.

Was taking another look at the realignment of the divisions after Seattle joins the NHL. Man, the Cryotes got boned.

How we'd realign the NHL divisions after expansion to Seattle

which skills?

For anybody that wants to revisit some really good playoff hockey, today the NHL Network is showing the 2019 playoff series between the Bolts and Bluejackets. Jackets showed what a difference leadership is, and had it on every shift. Bolts, despite their 'talenet on paper' have not had that player(s) who k now what it takes to win, even if it's not scoring. Fun to watch.
Game 2 just started (10 Am EST)

THe Jackets at one point this year, Feb/Mar had 9 regulars out hurt. And despite that were in almost every game. They are healthy now and I think can do some damage. Same with the Canes and Avs, who had top players out, now are healthy.

Kubalik, Kubalik, Kubalik. So angry that Blake Lol traded Kubalik. Worst GM everz! He should have forced him to sign here against his will like other good GMs. Mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore!

That's not an official realignment, that's the espn proposal. No way does AZ get screwed that hard, that's awful!

Part of me would feel sorry for them, part of me wouldn't :)

If I was forced to come up with this, I'd probably pick something familiar but someone is always getting screwed. I would consider moving Calgary and Edmonton over to the Norris and put Colorado and Arizona back in the Smythe. From the Alberta cities, Chicago, StL, and Detroit are close to the same distance as the Southwest, where there are 4 teams and the bulk of the long travel. Winnipeg is in the same ballpark as Seattle and Vancouver distance wise, Minnesota is 400 miles or so further.

It's impossible not to screw anyone, but in this scenario Edmonton and Calgary would only have slightly more travel, while Colorado would have slightly less. It avoids the complete screwing of Arizona. I think it would be pretty much a wash with time zone effects.

Two of the best rookies in the NHL this year were LA Kings 7th round draft picks.

Unfortunately Arizona makes the most sense if the Pacific has to shift a team over. Since Arizona doesn't observe daylight savings, the division road games would start at a more palatable time for the majority of the season. But yeah, they'd get screwed with longer travel. Only other option I could see (which doesn't make sense either) is shifting Calgary/Edmonton to the Central and the Pacific takes back Colorado.

Detroit petitioned for years to get moved to the Eastern Conference, so I don't think ESPN took that into account.

I think the Calgary/Edmonton to the Central and moving Colorado back to the Pacific is a much better option. It will also help stoke the Vancouver/Seattle rivalry. No need for Vancouver and Calgary/Edmonton to remain in the Pacific Division.
