Ehhh, not to defend Leafs fans but every fanbase is annoying after trades.

When the Sens fans told us how horrendous Phaneuf was alot of our fans kind of rubbed it in when Phaneuf was actually useful for about 3-4 games with the Kings. And well...then we realized what they were talking about.

Listening Melrose rave about Tom Wilson, saying he's the new wave of big tough forwards coming into the league make me think the guy is really out of touch with the leagues new direction.

I’m sure he thought the same thing when he had the likes of Marc Potvin, Matt Johnson, Troy Crowder, and Phil Crowe.

Did you see the clip that was posted here where he is just glowing about Warren Rychel?

He seems like a genuinely nice guy who is fun on TV, but he is completely clueless about the game, especially the way its played today.

I have to see that. This same man (coupled with Brian Lawton and Len Barrie) were on the verge of ruining Steven Stamkos as well.

If you're going to have a big tough forward, don't you want it to be Wilson? A projected 32g, 58pts, 177PIM in 82 games. That guy can play in today's league.

Nice pickup of Nyquist by the Sharks, gives them a tough top 9

and if Vanek does get moved, it would be the 3rd straight deadline he's been traded . Can't think of another time that's happened to a player

The same Al Murray who worked for the Kings?

The very same man. He's been credited as the guy who helped stockpile Tampa Bay. Now if only he did the same during his tenure with the Kings...

At least in his final draft (if you discount 2006 since that is when Lombardi took over), him and his staff selected Anze Kopitar and Jonathan Quick.

Apparently in 2006 he wanted to draft Lucic in the second round but Dean said to go with a defenseman, and so they took Joey Ryan instead.

He can credit Al all he wants but I'd say more has to do with Stevie Y as GM that helped with those drafts than Al. Remember that "I'm in over my head and I don't know who to pick next look." at the 2003 draft table when the Kings called timeout? Even the longtime draft announcers were like"you can do that?"

That was the moment you could tell they entered the drafts with barely (if any) strategy. Not once during the Dave Taylor era did the Kings ever attempt to move up in the draft.

The scouting staff that Yzerman hired could also be significantly better at procuring talent. Al Murray did have some decent selections in LA, but they were all over the place with their results given the amount of years he was here.

The bottom four teams in the league have lost a combined 20 games in a row (8 by the Kings), it's going to be a hotly contested tank race

Love the memory of the Culver City rink.......appreciate that, but what did Melrose say that was so off base, that teams don't like to play against guys that him them all the time?

"We need more Warren Rychel's"
"You win with Warren Rychel's"
"That's how championships are won, by big strong men running into each other"

Rumor was they could've moved up to get Parise, but Murray didn't want to because he felt he was too small, and couldn't pass up a 6-8" project in Boyle. I guess his scouts forgot to tell him he had another pick at #27. NJ , after just winning the cup found a way to move up . Just shows how there was Zero creativity under Taylor/Murray.

Man, Vegas has added an entire top six line in Pacioretty-Stastny-Stone over the past six months. And they still have arguably their best prospect in Glass. Impressive.

And? That was in what, 1993-1994?

He's not wrong, he's not saying Rychel is going to get you 40 goals, etc, Rychel was the type of player that everyone wanted to win for,
