Damn I wish we would of gotten in for Hanifin and Lindholm instead of Calgary.

Severson, Johansson, Walsh would of been a package that matches Calgary.

The sad part is it is somewhat comparable lol, but since Carolina is (cough) trying to make the playoffs might be a bit problematic to do a big deal like that with them.

To be fair I think Hanifin's more highly thought of than Severson and Ferland had a better season last year than Johansson. Plus you have to factor in the Bill Peters connection, he obviously wanted the Carolina players.

Three years for a 35+ Kovalchuk is borderline wacky...but hey finally got their man eight years later.

At first, I was like "F U KOVY!" but then I was like......what you said.:laugh::laugh:

Hope Kovy takes a good long look at the Kings 2012 Cup banner 'cause that's as close as he'll EVER come to a championship for the rest of his career.

Who is because all I have heard is LA SJ and Toronto. Has anyone got a real list from a good source. Actually that’s not even his list that’s just he teams people have been taking about. The guys at the draft table brought up a good point, the cores in LA and SJ are older. JT would have his window in the next couple years with those teams. He implied he thought JT might look for a younger team who’s window might start in a season or two to maximize his chances, then he mentioned Toronto.

Those three plus Dallas and Tampa.

I know I'm late to the party but Kovy better take a long hard look at the 2012 Cup Banner for the Kings......it's the closest he'll EVER come close to winning a championship.

watching a replay of the draft and just saw a good interview with Babock at around the 93rd pick.

I dunno, feel anytime there is a solid interview in the NHL it is noteworthy.

According to Staple, Lou is flying WITH Brisson to LA. Talk about a show of respect from Brisson. I am incredibly confident after hearing that that JT stays.

My dream scenario is Tavares wanting to join Tampa. They would then have too many centers and need to clear salary. Point has one year left before a big contract and they wouldn't be able to afford him. Attaching Point to Callahan and Coburn would clear a ton of space. We could then buyout Coburn and then deal with Callahan on the 4th line/PK for a year or two. Tampa is loaded for a cup run and we have our long term 2C behind Nico.

Even despite the point totals, I don’t think most fans realize how good Braden Point was last year. I don’t think Tampa would be trading Point, even with getting out of 2 of their worst contracts.

I agree if anything they would deal Tyler Johnson over Point.

That's why it's a dream scenario. Tyler Johnson would be tough to trade unless Montreal gets all weird again in their need for centers and unrealistic view of where they are.

I'd take Johnson and eat Callahan's remaining 2 years. Montreal's got enough cap space to consider the same too.

Tavares, just like every elite UFA to potentially hit the market, will resign with his team.
Especially with Lou going there, hiring Trotz, and looking good at the draft.

If Tavares does indeed sign, then LI had themselves one heck of an offseason.

Everything has gone right for Lou thus far, he seems to have regained his golden touch that he lost with us and TML.

A lot of that is luck - the draft picks falling and Trotz leaving just as they were the only team without a coach. They were pretty much no-brainers. Him getting JT back and acquiring a viable goalie will really show if he's lost his touch or not.

Oh come on. He walked in with two top 12 draft choices (who he admitted the Isles would have taken regardless as he didn’t make them and who probably won’t contribute for several years) and literally sleepwalked and lucked into Trotz. The Isles still have a shoddy defense and no goaltending. Let him fix those two quickly and
magically while keeping the Cap in check before we anoint Lou for sainthood.
