Matthews scores 4 goals in his debut and still loses. That is most Leafs thing ever. Regardless that is an incredible debut. As person who heavily supports international hockey it makes me giddy thinking about him and Eichel leading Team USA in the future.

Toffoli and Carter easily have the most deadly shots on the team. Muzzin can rip it as well...

Muzz's shot isn't as quick-twitch like your two aforementioned. His is just well placed and opportunistic. Such a damn demon of a defenseman.

I know it's not popular to put Pearson so high up on our best shot list, that's why I ducked after my post.

Allen and no number 1 center. The Blues will never be more than pretenders.

I disagree... they have a legit D, and the power dynamic in the West is shifting. They'll make the playoffs and do some damage. Not saying they're true-blue, Stanley Cup bound. But they're a player, duder.

Allen is good enough to take them deep.

Ah, thanks, Grail! Didn't have that game on. Here's to more years of futility for Toronto and their entitled fanbase (second only to NYR). They are on the up and up, tho. At least that's what their fans would want you to believe.

Nice to see them get some humble pie, even on the heels of Lemieux redux

Roy was a horrible head coach, but his goalie pulling (with a lot of time still ticking) was innovative and on the forefront, and many teams do it now.

But it doesn't always work. Lol CHI.

Karlsson still gets out of that game with a +3, haha, it's like bizarre world.

Well he did have a goal and three assist. His assist on Matthews second goal was a thing of beeeeeauty, and will be used in many highlight reels in the foreseeable future. ;) All excitement aside Matthews had a great debut and super stoked for USA hockey, but seen this maaaany a times. I'm sure he won't flop but lets see how he does the whole season before declaring the second coming. And I still thing McDavid is the better and will be better throughout their careers.

1st overall pick for the Leafs Auston Matthews scores 4 goals in his debut and the leafs end up losing in Overtime. It's a typical leafs type of way of losing.

Marner had a very good game as well, was all over the place and shooting well. he had 6 SOG's. Matthews interview post game, he didn't talk about the 4 goals much when asked but was upset at the loss and blamed himself. Something far too few players do, using the convenient 'we' , "we shouldn't have lost that in OT' , "we played a bad period'. "We lost a faceoff that cost us the game, " etc.

He didn't do that, he took ownership for it, put the blame on himself for the OT goal. That's part of the maturity that is so impressive with him. And the roots of a good leader growing.

From his post game interview:

“(The Turris goal) was 100% my fault. We came here to win and we didn’t get that done." Matthews said after the game.

He's very strong on the puck, which is a great asset to have. His father said that is something he's worked on since he was a kid, not losing the puck at any cost. Just a terrific young player with a great future ahead.

Absolutely love his attitude. He's mature beyond his years. If anyone can thrive under the lights in Toronto, it's him.

Only thing that sucks with Matthews is the team he plays for.
