To comment on the Johnny Hoxkey chatter, I really think you have to think twice about a guy's physical make up before you grant him 7 to 8 years. He's a great player, but is he fragile? Maybe not? Is he the next RNH? Guys that look physically strong probably are better picks for these longer contracts. They look like they could easily be around longer. Think Chelois! Something like that. Maybe Getzlaf? Whose going to hurt him. Gudreua looks like his career could end in one big hit. There is a risk reward factor here? Right?

In my experience they only use one authentication system. So you should be able to use your DTV login to authenticate yourself to watch the games on watch espn.

It was streaming on espn.com so it worked out. You can watch it with an extra subscription on DTV , but its not worth it for just a few warm up games.

lots of speculation about Nichushkin possibly being out at dallas. imo he's using KHL rumor as negotiating leverage but that would be a huge investment to walk from... wonder if this will be a sign and trade situation that rarely comes up.

According to this, the team he negotiated with in the KHL doesn't own his rights and trying to buy the rights back is costly.

Maybe he knew that, that is his way of leverage but either way, I don't see the Stars signing him to the LTC he wants due to what this author points out:

http://thecanuckway.com/2016/08/26/vancouver-canucks-target-stars-f-valeri-nichushkin/
Nichushkin is now a restricted free agent and can’t seem to agree to a new deal with the Stars. The issue is obvious:
1.Nichushkin likely wants term and money like he never got injured and his production didn’t dip.
2.In Russia, he could easily make that money and he never seemed opposed to playing in the KHL.
3.The Stars see a young player who hasn’t proven he deserves a big contract, likely offering him little term with little money.

The article states the Canucks should opt to net him, either via a trade (cites Sven Baertschi. ) or offer sheet.

Then imagine how much crappier the blue line would be if Doughty wasn't there playing 30 mins a game.

yes. it was just a joke, a sad joke. last season dd & kopi fed each other with assists for goals, even in jan and feb when lak looked really good. a great production combo in this context.

Top 3 pick bad. If it's a "development" year anyways, maybe it should be looked at.

God I want you to stop with the tank crap.

Every year I hope the kings are successful, but if they are able to find away this year it would be very satisfying to have you eat crow.

I get that everyone defines success differently. For me it changes every year. For me I will find the season a success if the team wins at least one playoff round while keeping our first round pick next year, or winning it all with or without the pick.

It seems you either want cup or 30th place

The Kings will never be bad enough for a top Five pick with Kopitar/Doughty/Quick alone.

Even if Quick goes down for the year, I still think the Kings would be a .500 hockey club.

You have to be really, really, really bad to land a top five pick.

or really really lucky with the draft lottery, but that is besides the point.

I agree, no way this team should miss the playoffs let alone finish bottom in league.

I don't see the point of trying to make the playoffs when you know the team is flawed and can't be competitive. Add to that the short window the Kings have to turn things around before everyone is playing like Brown.

I figure they need
-Kempe/Amadio to both break out and hit the NHL in 2 years by the trade deadline.
- top 4D, don't have a lot of cash to do this.
-A couple of other D (McNabb/Forbort/Gravel/LaDue) to play like top 4D but play on the 3rd pair. Remember Martinez tearing it up on the 3rd pairing when the Kings had a defense.
-Dumping Brown would help, but may not happen.

It's going to take a few miracles to get this team back to where it needs to be to actually compete. Add to that Dought's 10.5-11M contract in a couple of years and things aren't getting easier.

Edit: Why the **** is Doughty blocking Overchicken's one timer for this crappy contest?

So you knew the Sharks and Penguins were going to be cup finalists at this time last year?
