Oilers have also re-hired Buchberger to coach in the AHL, just amazing that the owner let's Lowe just bring in all his buddies from the 80's.

Apparently Buchberger was about as bad as a coach for the Oilers as he was a player for the Kings.

Heard he's an Oilers fan.

ya they need a new voice and prespective. they keep bringing in buddies. I don't see lowe's buddies calling him out on anything, just a bunch of yes men

Taylor Hall on the move...

Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1050 last night and his theory is that pretty much there are no untradable players on the Oilers. He noted and agreed with Dreger's thoughts on Taylor Hall being moved, from his source that Hall that he has a specific way of how he wants to play and how the team should and that isn't the same visiion the Oilers management has.

Dreger on Hall /Oilers

If Hall is really one of the players they’d move …

“Yeah. I think it speaks from a willingness to adapt. So I am choosing my words carefully in saying that. I don’t – I’m not in that room… We gather our information from the sources that we have and my sense is Taylor Hall has a pretty specific way/vision of how he sees he needs to play, and maybe how the team needs to play. And he isn’t really open to the idea of change. And that’s a problem.”

he's a very good player, would be a great asset on wing to any team. I imagine if they do decide to move him in June, they'd get a net a good return. A top defensemen, a top pick or prospect. But a top D is what they'd want , I'd guess.

Seth Jones comes to mind

This had me in tears. Thanks for posting this. Talk about a guy who can give back. As a guy who lost a parent young as well, this means a lot to see someone doing things like this. Just amazing.... thanks.

Yipes...Beau Bennett may have taken his mumps virus to a Children's hospital...

A Penguins player might have exposed an undetermined number of young patients to mumps last week in Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, where doctors will isolate any unvaccinated patients who are at risk, the hospital said Monday

and Panthers in danger of relocating...

http://www.torontosun.com/2014/12/12/panthers-in-danger-of-relocating-says-florida-politician

Broward County councilwoman and former mayor Barbara Sharief claims Florida Panthers ownership seeks $78 million in public funds over the next 14 years to offset their losses. Sharief doubts the council will approve it. If the Panthers were to relocate, however, it would be a devastating blow to the value of the BB& T Center. While NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has played down speculation of the Panthers relocating, a vote next spring by the council on a new arena deal could be crucial in determining the club’s future in Florida.

That's been Snow's modus operandi for the rebuild - find talented quality players who are also leaders and genuinely good people. Most of the Isles core have been Captains on their junior teams. The one outlier was Nino who did not match these parameters as evidenced by the issues he had with the organization before he was traded.

For another tear jerker - check out Dal Colle's story.

Taylor Hall is one of the most overrated players in the NHL. It's simply stupid to gut a team for a flashy player who plays with his head down and regularly gets wrecked with a big hit every season.

I would be hesitant to trade Toffoli for Hall straight up, let alone in package. Toffoli understands what this team is all about, fits in, and produces on a team that requires defensive responsibility. He's also cost controlled. Why pay more for a guy who might not produce more and might not fit in?

It never ceases to amaze me that writers don't take into account the salary structure of a team when speculating on trades. It's not just the players being traded, it's their roles, their FA status, and the overall cap structure of the rest of the team.
