Me to, but thats more cause I think the Kings are gonna need someone to take out the Hawks for them.

You know what , having seen a LOT of playoff hockey over these last 40 years or more, there is usually an epic first round upset.
Given how outstanding Bob has been, if the Bluejackets hold onto the 8th seed, they could pull it off. He's the best goalie in the league right now.

In 7 game series against Chicagos overpowered offense? I don't know.

Jackets would be tough matchup for Hawks but I don't think even with Bobrovsky playing so well they could take out Hawks

Jackets have lost last 11 games vs Hawks

Last Jacket win over Hawks was during 2010-11 season

I am rooting for Stl today. I wanna play them in the first round.

Kompon is as terrible as you guys said he would be

Guy is a horrendous coach
Watching that Hawks' 4-on-3 powerplay at the end of the first reminded me exactly of the Kings powerplay last season. So static with the puck just moving around the outside. The Kings actually move and interchange positions this year which opens up lanes. The powerplay is much more enjoyable to watch now that Kompon isn't in charge of it.

The Hawks record vs the Jackets prior to March doesn't mean anything. They faced Bobrovsky once this year in March and threw 40 shots on goal at him from every angle. They beat him once and it took a shootout to get the 2-1 win. He stoned them thru 3 periods and OT.
What they did or didn't do prior to Bobrovsky taking over doesn't mean anything.
Difficult, of course, improbable, maybe but impossible, No.

Upsets are what makes the NHL playoffs exciting and having seen almost all his games from March on, he is that good and he capable of stealing a series.

But of course, they have to get in first.

First year after Kompon: kings pp is 10th in the NHL at 20%. Kings are also 5th with 27 5-on-4 goals.

Chicago up 2-0 in the third over St. Louis. Kings control their own fate for 4th now.

Columbus would not upset Chicago. Chicago would outshoot them like 40-15 every game. Dallas is our best bet at pulling the 8th seed upset imo

Remember the 2 minute 5 on 3's we couldn't capitalize against Oilers and Yotes at the beginning of the season? And those stupid too many man penalties we gave? We've come a long way.

Putting up 40 shots doesn't guarantee them a win. And I can't see how Dallas would be able to beat them. Of the 3 teams now tied for 8th, Bob is by far the best goalie and in the playoffs that can be a deciding factor. He's used to facing upwards of 35 shots on goal, his GA is under 1.5 for a reason.

Thank you Chicago. Now Kings control their own destiny for 4th. Would welcome the Sharks in a 1st round series with the Kings having home ice advantage with the Sharks road record.

Sounds like they are due:laugh:

Blues are more dangerous than they were last year, wouldn't really want to play them in the playoffs again...

How are they more dangerous?

Isn't LA more dangerous then as well?
Honestly, your dismissive attitude of the Blues is ridiculous. They're a good team. Accept it. There's a reason they've been playing well since the trade deadline and are in a position to challenge the Kings for the fourth seed. You have something else coming if you think the Kings would walk all over the Blues in a playoff series.

And no, the Kings wouldn't be considered more dangerous since they are without Mitchell and Greene.

They finally shored their D up with Bouwmeester and Leopold, and still have good depth if someone goes down. Only question mark is goaltending, but Allen is looking pretty good.

I'd say we're obviously a little worse on D than last year w/o Greene and Mitchell. We have decent depth too, but I'm not sure if Greene can come back and be immediately effective. Ellerby and Muzzin also seem too green to be playoff performers but who knows...
