The fan stuff is whatever. I understand it, but not sure it warrants such an awful hatred of the team. I believe you have said you are a Lakers fan, you must understand that the Lakers are generally considered one of the most obnoxious and awful fanbases to deal with, especially in visiting buildings? The same is true with me and the UM fanbase, we have IMO the worst fanbase in the country, yes some of the alumni blame it on "Walmart Wolverines" but they are still awful and obnoxious. There are Raider fans on this board, Dodger fans on this board, not exactly the most respectable or decent fanbases either.

The cheapshot stuff and ref favoritism I heard about the glory years Kings too. People cite stuff like the King hit on Petro or Stoll's cheapshots on Vlasic and Gionta. I think if you look hard enough you can find instances of missed calls or ref favoritism on every team. I just don't buy the organized ref favoritism stuff, but neither one of us will change each others minds so we can agree to disagree. I was just genuinely curious why the Vegas hate is so much stronger on this board than any of our division rivals boards.

The born on 3rd base stuff is more fan related, but blame the inept management of many teams around the league who apparently all read "Dave Taylor's Guide to Handling Expansion Drafts" and gifted Vegas a bunch of good assets to protect worse players. I more tip my cap to McPhee for taking advantage of idiots like Tallon than to say they were born on 3rd base. I think the Avs are a more legit example because the people of Quebec suffered through a decade of sucking and rebuilding only to have the team move and immediately win a championship.

When they win, it makes their fans happy. I have decided to hate their fanbase due to several encounters. While this isn't their entire fanbase, it represents it to me so I don't want them to be happy. Ever. I understand that is irrational but die-hard sports fandom is irrational and being a fan of a team is more fun when you hate other teams and their fans. It may also rub me a bit more since I pay to go see the Kings and have to deal with these dipshits acting like morons in another team's building. On another personal note, their existence ruined the annual tradition of attending Frozen Fury which also doubled as a birthday thing for me. Just some more gas on the fire for me.

You know I like you, but don't ever call me a Lakers fan. My teams are the Kings, Panthers for NFL and Tigers for MLB. Been in on the Tigers since maybe 1990 and on the Panthers since the start. Prior to the Panthers, I was an Oilers fan. As a kid, I was a Lakers fan (Orlando Woolridge was my dude) but I moved to Charlotte in 1991 during Larry Johnson's rookie year and became a Hornets fan. 11 year old kids can switch allegiances like this, no problem. I didn't dislike the Lakers although they broke my little heart when they got rid of Woolridge in favor of Terry Teagle. I was only out of California for two years and I actually still liked the Lakers. Charlotte remained my team but I was all-in on the Lynch, Van Exel, Eddie Jones et al. Lakers but then they signed Shaq who I had a strong dislike for since I was an Alonzo Mourning guy. The bandwagon Laker crew arrived at that point as well and I have been out ever since. I don't have an NBA team anymore as I don't care enough to follow a team but I did thoroughly enjoy the Lakers losing this season and, while not a Phoenix sports fan, I'd love to see them win just because of the "Suns in 4" guy. Funny that I don't have a team since basketball is the sport I am best at and I lived for it as a kid in the 80s and 90s.

But as you can see from my list of teams I cheer for, you can really understand why I'm not happy for a fanbase to just start winning right away since I generally cheer for teams that have a hard time even being relevant let alone a contender.

You used to be able to check them on NHL.com under "Game Summary" where it would list who was on the ice for goals for and goals against. Not sure if it's still accessible.

You could also check this board, as I know I posted them before. I was at every game in Chicago and it seemed like every goal was against that line so I went ahead and researched it since even by that point I was still battling people who didn't want to believe what should have been apparent to everyone.

Just doing a quick look at +/-

Richards and Lewis were a -6 during those playoffs, Clifford was a -2, Nolan was a -3. That was the combination of 4th liners that spring. The next worst +/- on the team among forwards was Carter and King who were tied at +5, in fairness to Carter he had to start out the playoffs on Richards wing, and that was likely the reason his +/- wasn't as good as his linemates the rest of the run (Toffoli and Pearson). I'm not 100% sure but I think King might have been the LW with Richards and Carter for the first two games in SJ, so that probably explains his being worse than his other linemates (Stoll and Williams). Whoever played with Richards that spring was going to be on the ice for a lot of goals against, he was that bad defensively. Not due to effort, his body had just completely quit on him by that point.

The 2014 team had a better more talented Top 9 than the 2012 team, but the 2012 team had a functioning 4th line which 2014 didn't.

It is fun to remember that Pearson was our Cup pick from 2012 and he was on the ice in 2014 ready to contribute. That's a pretty quick turnaround.

It definitely was but he was also passed over in his first draft year so 2014 was like his D + 3 season. Same spot that Turcotte, Bjornfot and Kaliyev are in for this upcoming season. The latter two will be 20 years old for the entirety of next season while Turcotte will be 21 in February. Bjornfot will be a regular from the hop and I expect to see the other two by that February time frame.

Pearson got an eight game taste spanning November to January and wasn't a regular until the end of February. Seven points in 25 regular season games then 12 points in 24 playoff games.

I had totally forgotten that Pearson made his NHL debut in the 2013 SC playoffs.

I thought other than Carter and Doughty he may have been the Kings best player in the Chicago series in 2014. I really thought the Kings had rolled yahtzee with Pearson watching him play in those playoffs, he made a bunch of really key plays in the offensive zone that lead to goals. I thought he was destined to be a 25G, 65Pt type player, weird what happened.

I think Arty makes the squad out of camp. There are a ton of openings on the wing and he is good enough to be a player in the league at 20.

I'm of the belief that Kaliyev could win a spot out of camp as well but Blake has proven to be going low and slow with the prospects. It is telling to me, however, that he did get a game so early in the season this year. 14:42 of ice time is pretty nice for that game as well.

As for Pearson, his leg injury in 2015 is often overlooked when discussing that team. 12 goals in 42 games with only one being on the power play. It isn't crazy to think that having him for the full season gets the Kings the extra two points they needed to make the playoffs that year. He never seemed as fast after that injury which was a real shame.

I understand the slow stuff, there is some merit to it with Byfield, although I think if it were NHL vs. OHL like in normal years he would have been up.

They had Bjornfot in the NHL at 18 and fulltime at 19. Pretty fast for a non-top 10 pick.
They pulled Turcotte out of school and put him in the pros before most teams probably would have.
Even a guy like Anderson became an NHL'er at a pretty young age.

Getting back to Arty, I just don't see who the Kings are going to play on the top 6 wings next season that is going to keep him out. He has had two pretty nice seasons, including one in the AHL as a teenager. I really think they plan on having him as a scoring line winger to start next season.

Being able to play in the AHL last year helps the timeline for Kaliyev for sure. Will have to see what the roster looks like after the dust settles this summer.

Good for the Rangers. Was hoping Seattle would grab him since they're the second team I'm adopting, living within 20 minutes of the Thunderbirds.

Though I'm once again not looking forward to the fans acting insufferably like they're a dynasty. When they won Kakko. Then when they won Lafreniere. And when they hired Quinn. Etc.

I wonder if the Kraken are going to ink Brind'amour. With his ties to GM Ron Francis, and him not signing in Carolina yet, with Gallent being the frontrunner for the Kraken job, he'd be the logical choice.

If Carolina lets him go, I definitely see Francis reuniting with Brind’Amour. If not, Tocchet might be the leading candidate there.

65pts? Damn man.

Yet if Blake brings in a buddy, the Kings are a terrible organization.

Begrudgingly on board with either the NYI or Mtl. Don't necessarily want to see either team win, but, screw TB and Vegas.

Well I guess the rangers will be pretty good this season.

Now we can resume hearing about how they had the greatest rebuild of all time.

Tom Wilson single-handedly demolished half their organization and Rangers fans think they're gonna be top of the league next season.

Caufield also creating chaos with his chances.

And Toffoli might want to put in a bit more effort in blocking that shot from Theodore.

Caufield also turned it over his first shift at the blueline to avoid a hit. I like him though and Vegas will be a good way to get his feet wet against a more physical team. Hell figure out how to be effective in a game like this I think.

Tonight is Montreal's best chance, if they lose tonight the series isn't going beyond 5 games. Vegas is too strong.
