Washington couldn't win with the great leadership of Williams, Richards, and now Chara too.

Weak and ugly goals given up by Mike Smith on the third and fourth by the Jets. You can’t pin the 0-3 hole on him, but it’s not a surprise to see him find a way to choke away a seemingly sure win.

And watching RNH this series makes me question whether he’s a good UFA to target if he hits the market. Just going by the stats this year, playoffs and regular season, Vilardi is likely a better option for the 2C versus one of the top potential UFAs.

Mike Smith is one of those streaky goalie late in his career that either gives up 4 goals on 4 shots or have a 50 save shutout. He's been that way for a while. Its shocking that Calgary took a flier on him and then the Oilers are like, yes we need that crazy inconsistency in goal after the inconsistency of Cam Talbot.

They gave that idiotic contract to Koskinen for some reason that no one knows. So they didn't have much more money to spend on the goaltending position. Given that, I guess it made sense to take a chance on a cheap wild card like Smith.

Speaking of terrible contracts to goalies, it looks like Spencer Knight could be starting for the Panthers today over Bobrovsky/Driedger.

Since signing that 7 year 70M contract, Bob has a 3.10 GAA & .902 SV% over his two seasons with the Panthers in the regular season. In the playoffs his stats are even worse: 3.80 GAA .880 SV% in 7 playoff games.

Signing a 31 year old goalie to a seven year, $10MM cap hit deal just seems absolutely insane. Then you look at said player's playoff resume and its like, what the hell is going on with that contract?

He's also one of the dirtiest and never gets called. He took a solid whack at a guys legs last night and nothing was done about it.

They also drafted Knight that summer before signing him, too. What was their plan here exactly?

What they really need is a physical presence to “wake the team up” bring some life! Maybe make a questionable hit every once in a while! So one that makes it hard for the other team to play their game..

Kucherov expected to play tonight. Praise the lord he’s healed, we have a miracle!

I just cannot hate this f***ing player more and his whiny bitch ass coach sanctioned it with a press conference.

Garbage, will forever root against TBL.
I agree. Its hard to root for Kucherov. After that dirty segment against the Blue Jackets, him sitting out but practicing for months before the playoffs, this recent dive... Lots not to like. Lightning fans have become insanely smug on here also.
