The idea is to try and gain new fans and do a better job of promoting the product: Gretzky lends the proceedings instant credibility and is a splashy get. Next step is for him to actually be good on TV.

Basketball players exist in a world where there are only nine other dudes on the floor at the same time while they are instantly identifiable since they wear no protective equipment. They seem to yearn for the spotlight while hockey stars routinely disappoint with how boring they are when given the chance to show some personality. Hopefully they include someone that has played recently and brings some personality to the table. Of course, anyone with personality on hockey broadcasts have also not been able to keep from getting themselves cancelled as of late so we'll see what happens.

Smith/Barkley/Shaq all immediately joined Turner following the end of their playing careers so, while they are old now, they weren't 60 years old when they started like Gretzky will be. Going to be interesting to see how he does. I don't want to see him just being diplomatic all the time.

And that's another reason why they are playing golf. SMith had a good year , but he's turning 40. I don't see Koskinen or Stalock being the answer. Unless he's eyeing Smith as a backup and move the others, trade or sign a starter?

Red Wings fans bemoaned Holland and his propensity to bring back relics from the past, like the many times he retained a washed up Daniel Cleary, and it appears he's doing the same in Edmonton with Mike Smith.

These old dinosaurs in management have zero concept on how to adapt to change.

Might be time to give some young blood in the organization a go like Stuart Skinner. They signed a goalie from the KHL - Ilya Konovalov for next season so he may also be in the mix.

I would think they want to leave Rodrigue in Bakersfield for another few years as he will be turning 21 in July.

Looks like TNT is going to have a hockey roundtable crew similar to how they have their NBA setup which I quite enjoy. Gretzky is akin to Kenny Smith so they will have to find an equivalent to Charles Barkley, need someone with some edge.
Gretzky is nothing like Kenny Smith. Smith is charismatic and opinionated, Wayne is boring and talks up everyone

Gretzky, Hull and Messier would be my pick for the panel. Then they could bring back these sweet shoes too!

Spencer Knight getting another start for the Panthers tonight. Interested to see how he fares on the road facing elimination. Kid looked good in Game 5 after giving up the early goal.

Ballsy move by the Cats brass but I like it.

Avery cancelled himself without any help from Twitter. Maybe assholes are just assholes?

Sure, but being an asshole also doesn't mean you should be cancelled by an online mob full of a different type of asshole.

You're asshole might be someone else's cup of tea.
