My favorite narrative is by the people who said last August Vegas will finish 31st. Then come the handshake line against Winnipeg they were howling it was rigged all along for Vegas. Make up your mind dumbasses.

I won’t be surprised one bit if Vegas finishes ahead of the Kings in the standings and they play together in the first round.

Wouldn’t surprise me, either. In fact, I see the Kings with more question marks than the Knights. Is Valardi an impact player? Do Kopitar and Brown replicate their extraordinary seasons? Does Kovalchuk still have it? Can Iafallo and Kempe take another step? Etc.

That Lucic trade hurt us bad.

I hated it at the time it was made, and it's looking more awful now..
That trade should be enough for everyone to agree Lombardi had to be fired.

I have a feeling that if Lombardi was still around, his top priority signing this off-season would have been locking up Patrick Maroon to a long term contract. Or reacquire Lucic from Edmonton.

Vegas had 51 wins and 109 points in their first season. The Kings have never had a 50-win season in their 50 years of existence. Of course, a Cup trumps all of that, but getting comfortably into the playoffs and then going all out from April through June would be looked upon favorably.

Jones will continue to burn us in SJ [thanks to the a-hole Bruins flipping him]
Miller will be a good player for Vegas
That 1st round pick will score his first goal against the Kings.

They also won the division. Something we've only done once.

I always find it remarkable that L.A. only has one division title in 50 years. Great regular seasons are extremely rare for this franchise.

These players are still being overly romanticized. The trade hurt us. Both things can be true.

Martin Jones, in a starter's role, has put up the kind of numbers that have gotten Quick absolutely eviscerated around here. His BEST SJ season is worse than Quick's average over the last 5 years. He plays very well against us which sucks but taints people's vision of the kind of goalie he actually is--Sharks fans were actually clamoring for Dell to be the starter as recently as halfway through this season.

Colin Miller is a good offensive weapon but an absolute bender in his own end reflected in his most sheltered minutes in the NHL status. He's maybe a rich man's Jamie McBain. Except he dives more. He somehow found a way to be a -4 on a division leader with multiple players over +30 despite starting outside of the defensive zone 75% of the time. People here complain about often Paul LaDue but here's your comparable.

Grass is always greener.

When I was reading about his new contract on the main board a lot of folks were fawning over the great value. I watched him quite a bit this year and I just don't see it. Maybe I'm jaded because I'm used to watching an extremely solid, defensively structured team on a regular basis. I get the new NHL and everything, but Miller is a mess in his own zone. He reminds me of Tom Gilbert. Good offensive instincts, but not someone you particularly want on the ice late in the game if you are holding on to a 1 goal lead.

We are going to really miss Quick some day.

I sure hope he's got several more years like this one's in him. Best goalie in franchise history, tracking towards best American goalie of all time, and if he keeps it up, he could make the HHoF.

We obviously see his every move so it's much easier to be critical but when you look at the big picture he's done magnificent things that other goalies maybe replicate for a year or two of their career.

Edit: crazy that only 6 american goalies have played more games than Quick--Beezer (882), Barrasso (777), Ryan Miller (737), Richter (666), Glenn Resch (571), Craig Anderson (564). Quick sits at 556.

Playoff games, Quick is already 2nd behind only Barrasso (119). Quick has 85, Richter 76, Beezer 71, Frank Brimsek 68.

"Games Played" in and of itself isn't necessarily a mark of greatness but you have to be a goalie of some ability to get that far as well.

For me, Quick is already a HHOF'er. Opponents fear him.

Knowing how good Quick's been and not specifically comparing against any particular draft year, would quick ever be drafted 1st overall, in a hypothetical scenario?

In a hypothetical situation where the rest of the draft resembles Jason Bonsignore.....yes...but in a normal draft where there is an offensive stud etc, then no, offense will almost always go 1st....

Quick is great, but he's no Hasek.

It will be pretty hard for Quick will make the HHOF. He'd have to win a Vezina and get 100+ more wins IMO.

You don't have to win a Vezna to make it. Quicks got at least 100 wins in him, plus he'll have the most shutouts by a USA goalie tucked under his arm.

Quick is good, but HoF good? The Kings HoF, absolutely. Number retired? I would think so. The overall HoF seems lofty though.

When was the last time a non-Vezina winning NHL goaltender made the HHOF?

100 wins is easily attainable.
If his body holds up, yes. But that's a pretty big if.

Not there yet, Mike Richter, Frank Brimsek, they are still above him for body of work, he's up there absolutely for sure almost forgot Barasso...
I think he's surpassed or at least tied Richter. Vanbiesbrouck is up there as well and possibly Miller too.
