You just can't make lazy plays in the playoffs. They'll learn. Might be too late this year, but eventually.

The Oilers have shown that they bounce back when necessary. That being said it was a massive win tonight for the ducks going back to Anaheim with momentum.

Most dominant effort I've seen by a team in a long time, that first period. Then, Anaheim flipped the switch. EDM really let one get away there...

And how in the hell was that first ANA goal not goaltender interference?

Good sign

It is an off day for the Penguins but Crosby was on the ice with a few other players in full gear.

The series is likely over Sat night. Gives him plenty of time to rest up for the next round.

That was quick

Yeah...too quick

on the GWG (I thought so too...)

Personally, I thought it was an icing...I'm guessing linesman didn't like Klefbom turning away from the race.

Oilers have been the better team. Gibson is the main reason this is tied. And Oilers are showing their are rookies in the playoffs, that will change.
I picked them before the playoffs to win in 6 and still feel they'll do that. Eberle and RNH have to start putting up some goals. 0 goals and 5 pts between the two of htem thru 10 games.

That Draisaitl , boy he's good...and going to get better.

Actually I never want to hear about how many shots the Caps took ever again in my life

It keeps coming up when various media members point it out, how by a wide margin they are outshooting their opponent (and losing)
but I didn't realize it was a pattern, going back years in the playoffs.
some of which is pointed out in the article.

also has quotes over the years about 'bad bounces' , 'not converting chances' 'hot goalies' but it happens to them with a higher percentage than any other team.

Trend

Okay, let’s ask Scott Walker, after the Caps outshot the Canadiens, 42-16, in a 2010 Game 7 loss.

(note, they were also outshot 54-22 in a game 6 loss)

“One time I looked up, I think, on the bench, and it was 33-11 [in shots] and we were losing 1-0,” he said. “That has to play into your mind-set a little bit as a goal scorer. … The puck just wasn’t going in the net. When it’s 33-11, you think the score would be at least 3- or 4-1, right?”

and

Let’s ask Barry Trotz, after the Caps outshot the Penguins, 49-23, in a Game 3 loss last spring.

“If you look at the number of chances, it was very high and very lopsided,” Trotz said. “We’ll continue. We feel good about where we went. The only thing I don’t like about it is the result.”

and current
Let’s ask T.J. Oshie, after the Caps outshot the Penguins, 38-19, in a Game 4 loss.

“We had some golden opportunities to score goals, and for whatever reason, we didn’t put them in,” he said. “Those have to go in"

Never change Caps...

I feel like people were making the same excuses for the Kings until this year. PDO is a real thing, but if you're continually out shooting your opponent and not scoring, something is fundamentally wrong.

Am I the only one that was shocked the first duck goal was allowed to stand? The skeleton contact was pretty heavy and occurred before the goal.

MAF is making saves he never makes during the season. He's really stepped it up in place of Murray. Caps are probably trying too hard now and making small errors on their shots so they're not accurate even when they got a virtual empty net. Fact is, there is such a thing as intangibles in sports. Analytics can't answer all the questions.

I think Nashville can get to the Final, but I don't know about their chances facing the Penguins. I want them to win though. They won't keep the Pens off the board. They're scoring an average of 3 goals a game.

Just no Ducks. Please, just no Ducks. And Ottawa, only because of how much they ****ing hate on Doughty. They got rag doll'd tonight by the Rags.

Fleury is definitely a cool story. I wouldn't mind him being the starting netminder on a cup winner. Only because he's a whooping boy for HFB and other sites.

He was like the 30th guy to raise the cup last season. Wouldn't mind it at all.

Was he really that far down the line to raise the cup? Can't imagine that's true. His teammates love him.

I was exaggerating some, but dude, he was way far down the line. I remember him looking at the Cup with like the fourth line and other randoms, waiting for his turn. It wasn't his year, I understand that Murray was sensational, but I felt bad for Fleury.

CORSI might be the most useless stat in hockey. They said in HNIC Radio that only 2 teams ranked highly in CORSI are still alive. The Kings kept mentioning how great they were at puck possession, even the announcers would constantly remind the viewers the Kings were outshooting the opponents and that got them out of the playoffs, a fired GM and coach. It's a great stat if you've never played hockey in your life and like to yell "shoot" when you go to games, other than that shot counts and puck possession are garbage. Unless you're putting the puck into the net heads will roll.

Personally, I don't think he comes back for awhile. Be interesting to hear out how he felt after his skate.

Shame on you. CORSI is a loved stat on HF Boards. :naughty:
