Butthead, ratface, I hate that SOB.Butthead wins it for the Sharks in OT.
Zykov with two goals today for the Canes. That stings. We could have used a LWer. O Lombardi.
If we're going by games played, seems like Zykov wouldn't have really helped the Kings over the last 2 years. Iafallo has done more. Even Rieder has done as much. Kempe has done more. It's been 5 years since he was drafted, and he's barely played in the NHL. That's usually what we rip management for. There's always another prospect out there to get. They have Vilardi now too, who may do more next October, who knows.
And Versteeg's contributions to the Kings have been....?
It's not that the Kings traded a blue chipper. It's that Lombardi kept doubling down on trading youth for a difference maker when there was very little to trade away.
Zykov was traded for Versteeg, not Sekera.I can give DL the benefit of the doubt for the Zykov trade. We had just lost our number two defenseman unexpectedly and we were trying to grab another cup. The defenseman he acquired was actually a real good defenseman And nobody could've foreseen him getting injured.
There are a lot of other trades we can criticize them for but this is not one of them in my opinion
It was a horrible trade because Zykov had value at the time and Kings even added a pick.
Please no deals with Carolina again (Sekera).
I certainly think he wont be a NHL regular but right now it looks like I might be wrong. Still early.
Hurricanes needed goals and Zykov wasnt called up despite scoring goals like a madman in the AHL.
Correct, those are 2 different things. When I mentioned That Zykov had more value at the time of the trade, I was told that "there was no one better to trade him for" or something along those lines. So I stopped the debate there and didn't go further, but I was displeased about trading him for Versteeg of all players when we could have just traded a 3rd round pick......or even just a 4th rounder (or just not have traded for him at all if that was the price). Not saying Zykov is a world beater but he still had value at the time beyond just a mid 6 forward that a few teams had given up on the past few years.
Didn't Zykov have a lingering shoulder injury too which was why he didn't look that great for Manchester (or was it Ontario already?)?It was a horrible trade because Zykov had value at the time and Kings even added a pick.

It was his elbow. And his development had stagnated. I understand why he was moved I think I would've held onto him longer and moved Mersch.

The Sekera trade was for a 1st and McKeown.
Watching the highlights of the Oilers last night it appears McDavid has just decided to put as many goals on the board as he can the rest of the way.
