Who's the tougher first round matchup, Nashville or San Jose? I think San Jose would be tougher just because of familiarity.

Nashville. It would also be paint-watching boring hockey.

San Jose / LA would be far more entertaining. Rivalry and all. (An actual one, not the made up Wednesday Night variety)

i would rather play San Jose. Now we can beat them.

nashville has been winning with their goaltending playing well below he norm all year. I think that changes sooner rather than later

Agreed..goaltending has not been their issue at all. Their forward depth is appalling.

Can't say goaltending hasn't been an issue when Price is letting in fewer goals on more shots, and whoever else is back there is giving up more goals on fewer shots. It's half a goal per game, and 93% of shots vs. 90%. Montreal may not have great forward depth, but that issue gets amplified when Price isn't there to save the day. It doesn't even have to be Price, but someone needed to save a few more shots, and Montreal hasn't gotten that extra save or two.

Maybe Bergevin is a little gun shy. He hasn't really made a big trade of any kind. The forwards are basically the same for the last 4 years or whatever. Maybe seeing what happened to the team for 2 months without Price will lead to some changes. They're not as bad as there were for those 2 months, but they'll need to do something.

Condon's numbers have been decent enough that if the team had any type of scoring depth they would not be as pitiful as they are.

Price would help any team.

You have to understand, there hasn't been an Erik Karlsson thread for 48 hours and people are bursting at the seams!

well, every thread obviously has the potential to be a Karlsson thread so let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We could be discussing His Majesty's greatness right now. I'll start: on a scale from generational to GOAT AINEC, how would you guys rate this year's display of magic and wonder? Could he win more than just 1 Norris this season alone? The possibilities are simply endless.

Erik Karlsson will turn Scott Gomez into a 20 goal scorer? Oh God, these morons never fail to impress me with their astounding idiocy.

Erik Karlsson will turn Scott Gomez into a 20 goal scorer with a +/- rating of -15, just like Erik accomplished in 2013-14, good on him, because, you know...GOALZ!!!

My favorite thing was how +/- was a terrible argument until he had two games with like 3-4 points so he was a +7 or thereabouts and people wanted to brag "look how good he is on a bad team..." then he tanked right back down to dead even with 4 d-men on his team higher in it. So naturally, +/- is meaningless again.

Funny thing is quite a few players have snuck up on his 5v5 GF. EK is at 61, now Subban is at 60, klingberg 59, goligoski 57...difference is EKs GA is 62, Subban's is 46, Klingberg 49, Goli 46. His GF% is 49.6%, behind most of his team's regular d-men...and the eye test matches all this given my 25ish viewings this year.

And STILL, all season he's been a leader here...his GA/60 is 2.74, 7th worst in the league amongst 500-minute or more d-men. All the guys ahead of him...nevermind not even worth wasting any more time on haha. Long story short, anyone still going AINEC with regard to the Norris race is just disrespecting everyone else, it's a neck-and-neck race with 3-5 guys in my eyes, but the voters...who knows.

Well, thank god he's playing you guys then, he'd shut us out. Hell, we'd probably OWE a goal.

If you asked our fans they'd probably say the exact same thing about shutting us out. Can you blame them? After lighting up Quick, we could barely muster 2 goals against freaking Mike Condon

Anaheim has a pretty scary team with great prospects in their system. They have a pretty good organization and the thought of how much better they can be if they didnt have an internal cap is frightening . Thank god they have an internal cap. They draft really well especially on defense they are 2nd behind Philly for me. Even though they have internal cap they still make some noise and get 100% out of their players.

Nobody caught it, but in one of the video highlights someone threw together of Versteeg in his thread, he makes EK look very silly. Take note that I wouldn't say "unusually" silly.

I saw it. Beer league style defense. Looks like he's playing basketball. The commentators even brought up his Norris trophy.

Take it easy on Hank... he probably just realized as good as he is, it will never be enough to drag that crap team to the cup.

Oilers with a SHUTOUT on Philly!!!!

Any Simpsons fans? Meanwhile in Ottawa...
