The Predators have signed defenseman Mattias Ekholm to a six year, $22.5 million contract.

Good deal for the Preds, he's a good all around d, who really took a big step forward last year in every area, good puck mover, solid his own end. Seems Lavvy's system is suited to him. Partnered with Ellis, who at 2M is also a good value. Josi, Weber and jones rounds them out into a very stable d.

Now if they could only get a 1C....

Very interesting background on Carter. He comes off as aloof, even as someone who doesn't like most people, whether that's accurate or not. I wonder how that reserved personality translates into leadership, since leadership on a sports team would include the ability to inspire and include teammates. Not a criticism of Carter, but a genuine bemusement.

I don't think he's aloof, I think ( and this is just from watching him from the time he was a 20 yr old in the AHL) he's just a very quiet private person around those he doesn't know. I'd say he's guarded. WIth his teammates, he's fine, and the coaches, staff, etc , close friends, But media, even fans in some regards, he's just not outgoing, just his nature if he doesn't know the person

I really enjoyed the last Ducks game I watched.... think it was against the Wild. Half way through the 3rd Hayward started talking about moral victories.
