3v3 is actually beginning to slow down league-wide. I've been watching all the games go into OT and now many team are playing 200 feet of ice in OT...being very careful, much like this game tonight.

I used to hope games would go into OT because the 3v3 was such a blast, but now it appears that the league has already shot their wad 3v3.

If 3v3 drops shootout games by even 30% it will be considered a good change. But yeah, if people didn't expect 3v3 to get coached into efficiency, they were fooling themselves.

Granted we haven't started seeing 2d yet, but we already see slowed down focus on defensive play and going back to the mentality of survive. If no one was willing to take chances 4 on 4, why would they 3 on 3 where its even more risky?

It's not that Bettman doesn't want a soccer copycat. Every owner in the NHL wants as many teams as possible in playoff contention in March. Three point games, where the winning team gets two and the losing team gets one, make that happen.

I don't think it's Bettman in this case. I think it' some of the old guard that don't want the system changed that much. Granted teams might play differently with it but it's been shown time and again it really doesn't change where teams finish.
