  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Frozen Four tourney starts next weekend. Some interesting thoughts...

  • Bentley University making its first ever appearance. While they were always the arch nemesis of my alma mater Bryant (both excellent business schools in New England), I have a friend who went there and since we went D1 the schools don't compete athletically anymore. So good for them.
  • No Michigan anywhere to be seen. Men's team was first team out getting bumped by an AQ. Tooooo baaaad. Bla ha ha.
  • Hockey East (6) and Big Ten (4) dominated college hockey this year.
  • Should Miami of Ohio consider changing conferences? No program seems to have been hurt worse than Miami after the conference alignment. Have not had a winning record since 2014-2015 and averaged just six wins per season over the last six years and were 3-28-3 this year. With the breakup of the CCHA to make room for the Big Ten, Miami has become a doormat...a total joke in the NCHC. A move to the new CCHA playing the BGSUs of the hockey world could help make the competitive again. At what point does the NCHC boot them in favor of a more competitive program like St Thomas or MN State?
  • Hats off to UConn and Maine, not easy establishing yourself in a conference that has BU, BC, UMass and Providence. Maine's goalie Boija has had an incredible season (23-7-7 with 1.76 GAA and .930 Save Percentage) and is UNDRAFTED!!! UConn might be building a super-competitive program. Their arena situation seems awkward, small on campus arena (brand new) so they play all their biggest home games 40 minutes away in Hartford at the pretty dated XL Center where the Whalers used to play (that's how old it is).
Oh and hey...let's not forget the local team. OSU came within a whisker of winning their first Big Ten championship last night losing in OT2. They are still headed to the Frozen Four tournament and could make some noise.
  • Women: OSU and Wisky face off this afternoon for the ladies championship for the third year in a row while Michigan keeps doing feasibility studies (SMH). This year's Wisky team is a juggernaut.

Anyone else watching the Women's Frozen Four. I mean...Wisky went 37-1-2 this year which is insane...near perfection. Five of the top seven scorers in the country and the statistically best goalie. That said, Wisky went 2-1-1 vs Ohio State so it seems they are the only ones who have a real shot at beating them.

The Buckeyes shorty followed twenty seconds later by the Wisky PP goal was exciting. Doesn't feel like OSU has the talent Wisky has but the OSU ladies and men play similar styles...just relentless 200' games.

Have not seen Wiz on the Buckeyes bench yet but I am looking for him. Really entertaining first period, great action, and a 2-1 Buckeye lead. Looking forward to the second period. What'd the announcers say, more goals in the first period of this championship game than the last two championship games between these two teams...combined!

I am not ashamed to admit I went to more Buckeye women's hockey games than men's games this past season. Despite playing in a facility that's barely fit for a high school team Muzerall has built one of the top programs in the country. I would offer her up as Gene Smith's best coaching hire during his AD tenure. Now she just needs a facility for the team that the ladies and university can be proud of.

As for the game, so far so good. *crosses fingers I didn't just jinx them.

Less than 6:30 to play. Damn. Amazing the Buckeyes play just three offensive lines and how aggressive they play. You gotta think an OT game plays to Wisky's advantage considering the short bench for Ohio State.

1:50 left and Wisky PP (too many...errr...women on the ice). You have to imagine it will be a 6 on 4. Buckeyes gonna need an ENG. Oh boy...buckle your seatbelts and hold on to your butts.

Wow what drama. What a move on the penalty shot. Not sure I loved the call...but it is what it is.

Look. If the rule is the puck can’t go backward, that penalty shot has to be disallowed. That said, it’s a beauty move and I’d have been pissed if was disallowed from my team.

Was a replay ever shown on the telecast? I thought it looked like the puck was pulled back but it was really close. Like it was so close it would be one of those the call on the ice stands close no matter what the call was.

That penalty shot call was bullshit. She can’t glove the puck if it ends out the other side on the same course it was going. I think she redirected the puck but she certainly didn’t glove it, and given how the call on the ice was no call, I saw nothing definitive that said it was grabbed. Bullshit

It wasn't definitive, which is why it as bullshit to overturn it. You should need definitive evidence to overturn a call on the ice. They saw the puck disappear and then come out on the other side but probably kept watching it in slow mo which made it seem like she held on to it.

Not sure conference matters. You just need to recruit and coach better. The play in a conference with perennial powerhouses and national championship winners. Arizona State just went full D1 in 2015 and is successful.

Just find a way to win games. It's not the competition. Put that same team in the Big Ten against these teams and they'd still struggle.

I am suggesting they should move down...not up. I am questioning whether Miami is the draw for recruits to compete in the NCHC.

As other have said there shouldn't have even been a penalty shot. And then we were never given a reason why they couldn't review this goal? If they could review the penalty....why couldn't they review a questionable goal?!

After the goal I saw James Wisniewski on the bench talking with the officials. Maybe he saw that and it was the reason for their discussion.
