Wow so apparently the leafs approached Marner about a Marner-Rantanen deal and Marner nixed it.

If he hits the market, I hope we go after him

Could have been fireworks if they convinced him to go and resigned him in the offseason. I wouldn't be shocked if Don throws some money his way but at the same time I expect some predraft excitement that may tie up our resources

Upper Arlington and St Ignatius will play tomorrow at 1pm at NWA for the state championship in high school hockey. Will you be there @Viqsi cheering on your alma mater?

For non Ohioans, once upon a time only northern Ohio teams (mostly Catholic schools in Cleveland and Toledo) would win the state championship in hockey. A couple of years ago a central Ohio school (Olentangy Liberty) won the state championship for the first time. Upper Arlington is a central Ohio high school and the top seed in the tournament. St. Ignatius is a Cleveland Catholic high school that has won about half of the last ten state championships.

Laine has just 6 points in his last 14 games… 2 goals in his last 16 games.

while averaging barely 13 minutes TOI in that 14 game span.

over his last 2 seasons he has played in a total of 52 games out of a possible 164.

in those 52 games, he has 33 points. over an 82 game season, he’d be on pace for just 52 points.

wowza.

8.7 million dollar cap hit.

such a weird career.

I'm still kind of not able to deal with crowds and/or other stresses right now but I'm definitely rooting for them.

If he didn't want to play in Raleigh, I don't see the thought of Columbus being much different.
Depends on why he wasn't interested in playing for Hurricanes. There was a recent survey of player agents and Carolina ranked bottom five for poorly run franchises, terrible ownership and most difficult front offices to work with. Supposedly the owner is too hands on. Last year they traded for Guentzel and then lost him to free agency, maybe there is something to it. They win a lot but perhaps it is in spite of ownership and players around the league know it and don't wanna deal with it.

I know the owner was also very big in getting pickleball into the mainstream. He got a lot of celebrities to buy into franchises, then went out and bought many of the best players to send pickleball salaries skyrocketing and then walked away from the whole thing leaving everyone else to clean up his mess. Seemed like a lot of shady things going on with that guy.
