This is going to end well.
Flyers board definitely not in Torts’ corner.

Wasnt really sure where to put this, but an interesting read on what Laine has been through over the past few years.
In this he also touches on his time here a bit and how he regrets his comments in December. He also thinks we targeted him that night.
The comments thing and being targeted really shows a lack of intelligence. He had to learn the hard way that talking shit about your former teammates who stood behind you was a bad idea? Not mentioning Johnny who jumped on his mental health campaign? All that and his biggest "targeted" hit against was him being a moron skating into Voronkov like he thought something else was going to happen.
To be fair, we did. Just not with intent to injure. That was a lesson that needed to be delivered and it sounds like he picked up on it.

I'm willing to bet it didn't even fully occur to him that that's what he was doing. The comments thing and being targeted really shows a lack of intelligence. He had to learn the hard way that talking shit about your former teammates who stood behind you was a bad idea?
I buy some of that and the rest of it but he even followed it up with "I'm not going to say anything negative about other organisations any more. Had to learn that the hard way." he knew he was saying bad things, still wild he was unaware people would react to hearing bad things about them.I'm willing to bet it didn't even fully occur to him that that's what he was doing.
Having read that, I'm prepared to give him a pass. Stress and depression make you do all sorts of strange and stupid things, and the reality of what's going on around you need not apply. Literally all of that, I was nodding along saying "yep, that makes perfect sense". I half suspect he's on the autism spectrum, actually - I can easily relate to that whole "only have these particular pillars and they're all that mattter w/r/t who I am" thing and beating up on myself because of it, and crumbling to pieces when something you've leaned on your whole life abruptly and unexpectedly vanishes out from underneath you. Wishing him luck.
As someone who has experience with similar illnesses (thankfully not on myself, I don't have any mental health issues, nor have I had any but my two friends had/have Bipolar Disorder) I can tell you that at a minimum now he hasn't cured himself yet. I don't know how it is in the US/Canada, but here he would have to see a psychiatrist every 3 months over several years and take medication.I buy some of that and the rest of it but he even followed it up with "I'm not going to say anything negative about other organisations any more. I'm glad he's finding help and happiness but a lot of this feels self serving and he's still completely unaware of what he himself brings to this entire situation.
They asked him why he asked for a trade, he replied. But one wanted a trade in December 2023 or January 2024, back when Jarmo was GM and not now.I get that, I very much relate to it as well. What I don't get is the solipsism - he pointed at our players, who are winning right now, and said you guys don't have the winning passion like I do. When I'm f***ing up my responsibilities because I can't sleep, I know that's on me.
He's honest to a point, he definitely doesn't see the issues he creates himself. "The Winnipeg papers wrote I was shit so I felt like shit... Oh those Columbus guys? They are shit and ok with it." He understands negative comments has negative impacts on himself but then will flip and say negative shit about people who had his back and act surprised they didnt like it. I don't doubt he has depression but he also has strong narcissistic traitsAs someone who has experience with similar illnesses (thankfully not on myself, I don't have any mental health issues, nor have I had any but my two friends had/have Bipolar Disorder) I can tell you that at a minimum now he hasn't cured himself yet. Add to that Laine's brutal honesty (btw Don Waddell said the same thing and I'm sure some of the players thought so too) the fire is in the roof.
He didn't say they are all shit, but that some are satisfied with the situation. And he didn't specify if it was just the players or the staff as well. No I haven't seen a damn thing. It's all been self serving bull. The team hasn't done this, the media pushed for that answer, someone else did this or that. It's never I needed to be better, I needed to do thisHe didn't say they are all shit, but that some are satisfied with the situation. And he didn't specify if it was just the players or the staff as well. P
Btw, look what Don Waddell said:
“The one thing is, I’m not saying it was everybody, but losing was acceptable [here] and losing is not acceptable,” Waddell told SiriusXM NHL Network Radio on Thursday. “We have a ways to go building this, but our goal every year should be to win the Stanley Cup, not just win some games...

Newly minted Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell believes his new team needs a culture change in order to be successful going forward.www.tsn.ca
So you see for yourself that he didn't say anything that wasn't true, or more accurately, that wasn't true at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. Now it has changed, but he couldn't have known that.
