Is Connor McDavid even playing in this series? Florida is completely dominating Edmonton. This series will be a sweep.

That's the Barkov effect.

Wait until the Oilers have last change.
There were talks previously of Bobrovsky winning the Conn Smythe in the event of a Panthers Stanley Cup. Personally, if they do win, I don't see how Barkov wouldn't get it. Hopefully he's okay and that Draisaitl gets a suspension (not counting on it, though).

Two things:

1) f*** the Caps
2) Sounds like Puckpedia is the best alternative site

The OGs remember General Fanager and CapGeek.

I don't know why the NHL doesn't just publish this stuff on their own site. It's a league with a cap, so it's not like it's exactly a secret.

Anyway, Friedman mentioned today that the Jackets are one of a dozen or so teams (that he could confirm) that have their own tracking / salary type of data. He said there will be a good number of teams who will be scrambling come July when the site gets taken down.

Bobrovsky has a GAA of 2.02 for the playoffs. In two games against McJesus he has allowed 1 goal. Bob absolutely stole game 1 against the Oilers. He gets my vote if it is a short series.

Florida 3rd line is also very solid defensively and they have enough depth to tweak the top9 for more balanced lines and minimize 4th line minutes, assuming Barkov is fine. So if the Oilers try to get easy matchups for McDrai, their bottom 6 will get really exposed.

Can never count out the Oilers stars though, but if Barkov is close to 100% I don't see Florida losing 4 out of the next 5 games. Oilers run hasn't been very convincing overall, at their best they can do it all but they've been quite inconsistent and the series vs. Van gave me the impression it was so tight because both teams sucked and weren't able to hold on to a lead :D

Florida just has that much better depth and seem in pretty good health for a team in finals, Kane at least seems a shadow of himself for the Oilers and Nurse might be hurt as well, but it's tough to say with him because he can be so bad even in full health at times...

Depends a lot on the rest of the finals. If those games will really give the impression Bob is standing on his head for Florida to win, then it's probably his trophy. I think otherwise the narrative will be Barkov continuing to shut other teams down. He's done it so many times, while game 1 was really the first game they needed Super-Bob to win.

This would be really cool:

“According to a report by the Wisconsin State Journal, the Ohio State men's hockey and women's hockey teams are in talks to play games at Wrigley Field next season.”

On another note... 8 in the top 50 picks.

Oilers have failed to build a supporting cast for McDavid, the Panthers don't have that problem because Barkov is the supporting cast.

That's about the best I can do to sum it up in a witty one-liner :D
McDavid's whole game is "I go fast." Barkov's is "You will not go fast." One of these negates the other very successfully.
