Winning record is simply more points than games played.

It's part of the reason the Jackets have a 60% chance to make the playoffs and Detroit has a 40%. We have one less point, but 3 more ROW's. However, Detroit doesn't have a losing record.

If a winning record is defined by more points than games played, there are only 5 teams in the league with a "Losing" record.

Nobody has played more than 60 games as of today and there are only 5 teams with less than 60 points. That way isn't really a fair representation of winning and losing when points can still be awarded for losing

Apparently Marty St. Louis is demanding a trade to the Rangers

Why now though? Did things really go south with him and Yzerman over the olympics? I just don't get it, I'd consider Tampa to be a better Cup contender than the Rangers, and its not close. Just curious at his motivation.

Dear Buffalo Sabres:

See: how to protect your goaltender.

Note: I don't think the Roussel play was anything other than a hockey play, for whatever it's worth. He was driving the net and was (slightly) shoved by Liles.

Real kudos for me is the Dallas broadcast team that you hear in the video ... very unbiased play by play, really did a great job there.

Speaking of broadcast teams, for some reason I couldn't get the
Jackets' feed last night and had to listen to possibly the worst team I ever have heard. Didn't Doc Emerick broadcast Devils games? Man have they fallen off. Shelley over Daneyko as the on-ice guy by a first round ko, Davidge wins an Emmy compared to Chico Resch and I actually prefer Rimer over Steve whoever. Geez, they were terrible.

1-0-81 = 83 pts = a winning record. Just sayin'

I actually have no idea to calculate a winning record in the NHL with their cockamamee point calculations. I'd say a winning record is more wins than losses (of both kind)

It can obviously be defined either way. I'm more inclined to look at it the same as you.

I had the feed too. It was bad.

Yes sir. 83 points is a winning record. Until your playoff fate is determined by wins and losses (not points), points are your benchmark for winning records. OTL's are basically ties since you got one out of two points (.500).

In our desire to have someone win every night and keep the points the same for a SO or even OT win .vs. Regulation, we've cheapened the win.

These should be 3 point games. 3 points for regulation win, 2 for OT and SO (if you just have to have them), 1 for an OT or SO loss (again, if you just have to have them) and 0 for a regulation loss.

The same reason for the "need" for determining a winner for regular season games is probably the same for where their is a debate over what determines a winning record.

I feel like it's a bit of an overpayment. It's clearly cup or bust for STL.

Good thing Hitch hates youth because St. Louis just ensured they'll be one of the older teams for a long time.

I think it is about right if they sign Miller.

Miller has a better save % playing behind Buffalo's defense than Halak who plays in back of a defensively oriented team with a pretty decent blue line. Halak has been struggling. St Louis obviously gearing up for the Cup run.

If you're not anti OSU, now might be a good time to pick up on following the OSU Men's Hockey team. Having a real good season and seem like it could make the NCAA Tournament.

Plus, Dan Kelly Jr. does most of the television play by play on the BTN. It's quite nostalgic.

I'd take Halak for $5 million over Miller at $7 million every day. Bad trade for St Louis.

Seeing that the 3rd in that trade goes to a 1st if Miller re-signs or the Blues make the WCF, I hate that trade for the Blues.

They can just way to re-sign him until after the draft, can't they? So, it is only a really late first if they make the WCF. That doesn't change the value of the trade that much to me.
