I think its funny how many people there are on the boards who don't know the name of their representative or senator, the setup of their local government structure, or where to find Arizona or Glendale on a map...these are the same people that have suddenly become experts on local Glendale politics. There are some very small people who get extremely large and bitter once behind a keyboard, and once it looks like the Coyotes are staying put.

Glendale is right next to Arizona ,right?

If Alfie leaves Ottawa for Detroit, its like a reverse Vinny. Guy was the face of the franchise and he's going to walk for a better (?) last chance at the Cup. Although it would seem to me his chances would be better in Boston.

Prospal was never the face of the franchise, much less the face of the franchise for 17 seasons.

Strange comparison.

Anyways, why do this now if you're Alfie? Why not 5 years ago?

The comment was just meant to point out to others that in the end its a business from the players point of view as much as its from the owners/mgt's. I'll try and be more precise in future postings.

Thank you sir. Interesting division for us, a lot of teams there that like to go up and down the ice and play offense, should be fun coming from a defense-first division and conference.
And I don't mind the uneven teams at all, just the way baseball used to be. Not bad at all.

Nice, too, TW, how this is the most compact division. I imagine a good road trip could be constructed to see them all with no more than @9 hrs drive time between cities.

Id say division A is the toughest but D might be the most competitive. Pittsuburg is obviously in a class by themselves but after that there can be some really good teams or some bad teams. Carolina may be the weakest but they are addressing the defense and if Ward plays better they could surprise. The Islanders are much like us and on the rise (lets hope their goaltending faulters). Then every other team could go either way. If nothing else it should be fun to follow

What's the logic behind having both Florida teams in the Northeast division? Am I missing something?

To me, it would seem that the teams based in Florida should just join Division D and let the two Northern-most teams in Division D move up to Division C.

That would split the Islanders and Rangers from the Devils and I think the league want to keep the three of them together.

Burmistrov to KHL.

Short term this is too bad to the Jets, but long-term it may work out if he decides or they convince him to come back over to NA.

That's absolutely atrocious management on the part of Winnipeg. Everyone's aware of the fact that I'm a Burmistrov fan, so I won't go into any of that. But the fact is that there's a 21-year-old kid who's been buried on the third and fourth lines alongside guys like Tanner Glass who are magically expected to produce. He doesn't produce (shocking, I know), and Winnipeg won't move him.

This makes Mike Gillis look fully in control of his senses.

Which is quite an impressive feat I might add. Jarmo should've kicked the tires on Burmistrov, we don't need him that badly but it wouldn't have cost much so there's no harm.

He might have, but I'd imagine that the response from Winnipeg would have been one of the following.
1) "We're not trading him under any conditions."
2) "We'll trade him for all three of your first-rounders, plus Ryan Johansen and Ryan Murray."
3) "What do I care? These suckers paid up their season tickets for five years. No one above me gives a damn until halfway through the fifth year, and even then there's still a waiting list a mile long. And if he goes to the KHL, I'll just try to spin it into one of those 'us vs. them' tirades and hope that everyone swallows it. And if that doesn't work, I'll just blame Bettman or Snowball or Goldstein."

(I'm betting on #2 or #3, possibly both)

I really hate the KHL, I really, really hate it. It's for old guys. I don't want anything to do with the KHL for a long, long time ... maybe ever.
