SJ choked. Too ktwo penalties in the final 2 minutes, and LA scored twice to take a 4-3 lead.

True. But the second call was for delay of game clearing the puck over the glass, even though it deflected off of Carter. Pretty tough to kill a 5-on-3.

Yeah that was a bad call, but still LA was all over them in the final 5 minutes, they deserved that one.

As long as LA has Jeff Carter, they don't deserve anything except a hell of a lot of uninspired play and misery.

Unfortunately, the hockey gods don't see it that way. Which is why there will be an LA-NYR finals.

:sarcasm:.... Hopefully

I didn't see the play but that rule sucks. I like the suggestion one of the guys on NBC has made a couple of times to make it like icing unless it is clearly obvious a guy just tees it up and flips it out.

Well, at least the Bruins won.

Screw the Kings. I take MB's approach to the Kings, they deserve no happiness. Although unlike him, that is not conditional to Jeff Carter being on the team. The are now and forever will be the team I hate more than the Rangers.

You may want to leave yourself some flexibility, hate can ebb and flow so easily that another team may capture your supreme ire at almost any moment. Fortunately, as hockey fans, we have an almost endless supply of animosity!

Yes, there is a possibility that the Rangers could do something to move themselves up the list. What that could be, I'm not sure. I tend to be very stable in my opinions of a team. I wouldn't have made a declaration like this in the first 5 or 6 seasons.

I did leave some flexibility in that I said "hate more than the Rangers". So someone could move above both of them. Leading candidate is the Mild who sits in #3, although I like Mikko and he should have dumped the Mild like a bad habit.

So any idea how long it will be, anyone, before Weber pulls a Nash?

True, with the possibility of actual rivalries developing in the East, I can think of a number of teams that may have that potential. I believe you mentioned the love/hate aura surrounding the Flyers, for instance. I share your distain for the Kings, though I'm more ambivalent about the Rags. Someone else mentioned the effect visiting fans may have and I will probably respond negatively to that, as well as what may occur on the ice. For example, I harbor a deep dislike for the Sabres, due to an obnoxious visit from their fans, several years ago. I don't let go of grudges, easily!

On the seemingly endless topic of playoff officiating, here's a link to an interesting article from former ref Kerry Fraser at THN.com regarding grading and evaluation of officials:

http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/kerry_fraser/?id=423337

This was the first year, and I may be in the minority, in which I thought the officials did a good job in our games for the majority of the year.

Sure I had some issues with certain games, but not at the extent as I had seen in previous years. For example, I think an official got suckered into calling a hooking during the LA game in which we lost. I think the call was Prout hooking Carter. Prout wasn't looking at Carter and had the stick out, Carter just skated into the stick and pinned it into his torso with his forearm. Prout had no idea what was going on till he looked over. It was a big call and they ended up scoring almost immediately on the PP. At the very least Carter should have been in the box too. Embellishment needs to be addressed, it runs wild on hooking calls.

It almost felt like the officials were treating us with the same level of respect as they did with the better teams in the league.

As for the playoffs, interesting info but I don't pay attention to who is officiating those games.

Hatty for Crosby less than 2 mins into the 2nd. He is dialed in. All business.

Anderson chased for Lehner.

EDIT:
And a minute later Greenimg scores to make it 3-2.

A little publicity for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL. I am a new fan of theirs, my bosses son got drafted by them a couple of weeks ago, he will start with them this fall. He will then play at BGSU on scholarship the following season(s).

Last night they won the Clark Cup for the second time in three seasons.

This Rangers @ Bruins game has been a good one. I can't believe Torey Krug didn't get drafted.
