The way the Preds have gone this season both on and off the ice (Erat drama?) has me wondering how serious the potential is for a Trotz firing.

It would be crazy with Trotz and Ruff both looking for jobs in the same offseason.

Forsberg is playing for Nashville tonight... just a note to those interested in him...

He was a -2, and didn't score. Funny enough, the guy who Washington gave up Forsberg for, Martin Erat, hasn't scored in his 3 games as a Cap and is a -2.

Forsberg has to be a complete bust to justify this move for Washington.

Osiecki out at OSU?!?!?!?!?!

Difference of opinion w/ Gene Smith?

I wonder what happened? It ultimately smells of the hockey team being treated as a 2nd class citizen to the other sports and Osiecki not getting the support he needs to build a contender like he is capable of doing.

Tambellini fired as GM in Edmonton - but they hire MacTavish as GM and - wait for it - Scott Howson to fill MacTavish's old role.

And I thought MacLean's PEI mafia mentality was bad.

Shawn Mitchell tweeted something about a new facility, I assume practice and training.

I also wondered if OSU had issues with his involvement with the Junior National team and taking time away from his OSU duties.

Congratulations to Scott Howson for breaking "Even", like if he'd never left Edmonton in the first place. Highly doubt he even gets this position if it were with a team not named Edmonton.

MacTavish has no experience as GM or assistant GM anywhere. Howson has 19 years of experience.

I wonder who'll actually be making the moves.

Good news from a Columbus perspective; I don't see anything changing for the better in Edmonton anytime soon. It seems that the only qualification to have a hockey ops job in Edmonton is to go along with anything Kevin Lowe says.

Well, it really is kind of BS that they had to play their CCHA tournament game in the OSU ice rink because the girls basketball championships were in the Schott. The OSU ice rink isn't fit for Div 1 hockey of any sort. They need a true hockey facility but the university doesn't care enough to get one built.

It's possible Howson can improve on his shortcomings while maintaining the things he does well. Good luck to him.

I look forward to being regularly reminded of his progress, no matter how he does. (HINT: Not really.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Craig MacTavish the last player in the NHL to have played regularly without a helmet? I swear I heard that fun fact somewhere before.

:sarcasm:

Don't get me wrong. I agree on both of your points. Selfishly, I am all for a couple more sheets of ice in Columbus.

MacTavish or someone above him.

Grats to Howson on getting a promotion. Just stay in Edmonton for the rest of your career please.

Give me a little credit. As for the other side, you should expect nothing less than constantly harping on Howson, justified or not.;)

Meanwhile, if the reports I'm hearing about the Kevin Lowe press conference are accurate, he's gone full-on Doug MacLean insane.

"There's only one person in the league that has more Stanley Cups than me. I think I know a thing about winning" (Probably paraphrased.)

Right up there with "So when did you become a hockey expert?" :shakehead

You are referring to the MaClean/Ricordatti war, right? I remember that like it was yesterday.....hillarious exchange.
