The guy couldn't even get to the auction date (canceled or not).

Craig Morgan thinks that Meruelo is going to move the Tucson Roadrunners to Reno.

He has committed to build a 10K multi purpose arena on the grounds of his casino, Grand Sierra Resort. Primary tenant is to be the University of Nevada-Reno BBall team. He's got plenty of room on the property for it along with parking. A hockey team was also mentioned in the PR, but no specifics. For us Renoites, It's a bit too much to travel to South Lake to see Tebow's ECHL team play, particularly in the winter where there's a 7200' pass you have to traverse. I'm STILL shaking my head at their decision to put it in South Lake Tahoe...

Even though I hate the Oilers (variety of reasons) and the Panthers piss me off (mostly because they're damn good), it was good to see Stephen A, Shannon, Molly talking Cup Final on First Take on ESPN where they brought PK Subban on to give his thoughts. Sure it's baseline, pretty casual conversation, but it's a step forward for our sport.

ESPN is mostly the Stephen A. Smith channel now, and he hasn't really put in the effort to learn the sport, so I'm not sure where we go from there.

ESPN owns part of TSN in Canada, although they don't have the Canadian NHL rights anymore. About the best I could hope for would be for ESPN to filter the new, casual fans onto Canadian media. American hockey fans tuned out ESPN decades ago.

The NHL could start nudging ESPN to utilize their 30% stake in TSN a bit more. They don't have Paul Bissonette, but TSN does have Jeff O'Neill, etc.

I know when you have a purple and teal color scheme fans want to return to, but instead you get orange.

The Ducks are repositioning themselves.
“We’re a market of five million people in Orange County and neighboring Riverside County, none of whom say they’re from L.A. We want to be the flagship franchise, and we are passionate about the history and where we come from,” Tully said.

I was saying a few months ago that if/when San Diego gets an NHL team, then Anaheim is in trouble. Just being 'Anaheim' is too small of an area to own.

If they're going to go that way, and take the mantle of the 'outsider' team, then California Ducks may work. Represent everyone who doesn't feel that LA, SD, SF, SJ applies to them.

The most applicable name might be Inland Empire Ducks, but the Inland Empire is a term unfamiliar to most of the US. It also sounds like a USPHL team.

Who are the NHL Awards Show for?

You have something like the All-Star Game, and, well, that's for kids and apparently sponsors love it.

Why does the NHL Awards Show actually exist?
