I have read a lot about Wheeler taking blame for this incredibly disappointing season. I have read a lot about certain Jets players saying how embarrassed they are with how badly things have gone.

Has anybody heard anything like this from Scheifele?

If I were GM I would DEFINITELY look into that because as a "team leader" he should at least be involved in the discussion because he has definitely contributed in his way to this crap shoot.
I’m sure he will be once the season is officially over, he’s injured and injured players don’t really interact with the media.

Of course he didn't. He said they'll take their time to make sure they get it right, which is counter to the rushed immediate change others would prefer.
I’d have preferred a statement like “we’ll be looking into anything and everything to ensure we’re on the right page heading into next year and back to where we need to go.”

His was a very clear “prepare to be underwhelmed”

I suspect scheifele asked for a trade last summer and Chevy and Chipman have now seen that hes willing pout and not try all year. They won't put up with another year of that. With that contract his value will be very high this summer. I think you try and move him for someone like barzal.
Barzal also just came out saying he wants to play his entire career in NY. Ain’t happening, unfortunately.

Islanders are not trading Barzal for Scheifele.

He went out of his way to say there will be no “knee jerk reactions”,
If that was in response to player changes, I'm fine with that. For coaching though that would be too muted for me. We have no head coach, just a lame duck interim and assistants that have been here and failing for a while now. I wouldn't call it knee jerk or hasty to outright say the coaching of the team will need changes.

I move three players this summer and the jets win the Stanley cup in 2024. PLD to Montreal, Schiefele to Toronto and Dillon to the highest bidder. PLD gets you first overall Poehling and Armia. Schiefele gets you Nylander and Toronto’s first. Dillon gets you whatever draft picks or piece you can get. Resign Stastny for one more year.

There isn’t a chance that we get Nylander+ a first for 55. Like.. at all.

Only the Dillon trade seems remotely realistic and the Jets aren't winning the Cup in 2024 with those players added, and PLD/Scheifele subtracted.

Not sure if they trade Wheeler. Not sure if they trade anyone significant in their core either. But if they trade Wheeler I think its a hockey trade similar to the Voracek/Aitkinson deal that happened in the summer.

I think its likely they give this team a half season with a new coach. It makes more sense to do that then to tear it down. It would be much easier to move guys at the deadline next year or in the summer the following year with only 1 year left on their deals. You would have potentially 5 players to move at that time with Scheif/Wheeler/Dillion/Demelo/Helly. Going into a very deep draft with the potential on say 2 to 3 1sts and multiple 2nds would be ideal for a rebuild at that moment.

It would likely also get you a signed PLD if you don't blow it up yet which I think is key this off season

Murat is still of the opinion that Stastny won't be signing with us this summer.

"I continue to believe Stastny is unlikely to sign in Winnipeg this summer"

That would hurt our depth scoring but would pave the way for Cole to get a full time spot in the top 6.

your right Nylander is much cheaper let's do it straight up Schiefele for Nylander.
and why does toronto do that? i don't think they have any reason to move nylander.

PLD for the 1stOA+? i think you're reaching here my friend. 1st overall picks seldom get moved.
PLD is a good player, 59 pts this year in 81gp, i dont think that nets you a 1st OA+.

a similarly aged S. Reinhart for example coming of 25g/40 pts in 54 gp was traded for FLAs 1st (which i think at the time would be reasonable to project pick 20th or higher) and a goalie prospect Devon Levi

Is there any opportunity for a 3-way trade brewing here…? Clearly Arizona haven’t been able to get what they want for Chychrun, even at a cap hit of 4m.

-Jets receive Chychrun and Arizona’s 2nd overall
-Rangers receive Scheifele 50% retained ($3.06m)
-Arizona receive Jets’ 14th overall, Heinola, Vesalainen, Lafreniere/Kakko, Lundkvist/Schneider

Do not see the Coyotes trading the 2nd overall.

Why do we need Tyler Pitlick? We have enough players that score under 20 points a year. Also he will be turning 31. We have enough prospects for this role.

You have some weird obsession with Montreal's bad players.
