Thats good news, albeit we've all heard similar statements from players in the past around the NHL only for them to move on and sign elsewhere. Fingers crossed they make it happen, PLD & Chevy
I think a lot of this depends on the direction of the team and what Chevy says at the end of the year in his meeting with Dubois.

If the direction is along the lines ot what Dubois is looking for then I see a contract extension of working itself put fairly easily.

As much as us fans are all doom and gloom around here this is an org that is having one real bad year after making the playoffs 4 straight and making it into round 2 last year. I'm sure there is probably some more balanced thinking among the players and they likely think they can get back into the dance next year.

One thing I have noticed is they are pushing PLD in next years season ticket push
Yup, they are marketing around him, Conner, Ehlers and Morrissey. I.e our best players this past year and likely the core group moving forward.

Not sure if that says anything about what they plan on doing with Mark/Blake but still is curious that they are nowhere to be found in any promotional material.

Completely agree. The old core had their chance and fell short……like the vast majority of teams do year after year. New younger core chance now, old core can support them or move along IMO. Bring in a new coaching group based on feedback of new core and around the league.

I 100% agree with this. I think this is what we have seen down the stretch (now core voicing their opinions on what is needed) and taking more of the leadership load. We have also seen a shift in the marketing of the team. Even on the ice Wheeler is now on PP2 while Ehlers is on PP1.

Because ofcourse Lowry thinks that moving a guy who in the last few years has one of the best PP production record in the entire league and easily the best on the Jets to the second unit is the answer. One of the many reasons why the team has faltered under him,.

Yup its happens on all teams, work places, etc.......older group moves on and younger group takes over with new ideas & POV how to be succesful

Well truth be told this year he's living off of secondary assists on the PP. In terms of primary p/60 he's sixth among our forwards. All 4 playing ahead of him have superior primary numbers so there is some basis for the deployment this season.

Pretty clear Chipman isn’t making any major changes. Can’t wait for the rerun next year.
I’d be pulling out my hair if I had any when I was listening to this. Doesn’t give me confidence this team has the balls to make tough decisions. Instead, they’d pander to their own inferiority complex and willingly bow down to entitled millionaires who would leave this place in a heartbeat for 50K more a year.

The powerplay has been awful since Ehlers was put on the top unit.

Of course he didn't. He said they'll take their time to make sure they get it right, which is counter to the rushed immediate change others would prefer.
Clearly the smart thing to do is immediately after the game on Sunday TNSE should announce the firing of Chevy, the entire coaching staff plus announce they’ll buy out Scheifele, Wheeler, Schmidt and Dillon once they’re officially allowed to :sarcasm:

Although I do hope they get rid of the entire coaching staff, maybe just wait until Monday to announce that one.

He went out of his way to say there will be no “knee jerk reactions”, so there will be changes obviously but they will all have carefully thought out, weighted and done. I’m expecting new coaching staff, at least the HC & 1 or more asst coaches. Plus no doubt 1-2 trades albeit not the video game number some fans would like.

I’ll be a bit surprised if Wheeler or Mark are traded, for different reasons. Wheeler cap hit and he’s the captain and all that he’s done for the city & team. Mark is just too good of value at his cap hit to trade. I suspect they will keep both but there might be a shift in locker room leadership and a new coach who gets Wheeler & Mark playing better team game

I suspect scheifele asked for a trade last summer and Chevy and Chipman have now seen that hes willing pout and not try all year. They won't put up with another year of that. With that contract his value will be very high this summer. I think you try and move him for someone like barzal.

I'd opt for that, but will believe it when I see it.

Losing a play in series is not making the playoffs. We have missed 2 out of the last 3 years

yet those points accumulated in those games count as playoff points,,,
So you draft 10th overall if you make the PO's?

Regardless of you label it, 16/31-32 teams make the PO's. If you're an average team you're basically a PO bubble team, which the jets have been for the last few seasons. They won a round in an anomoly schedule of a season , probably their easiest route to the cup. They really bungled the Canadian Division year.

I have read a lot about Wheeler taking blame for this incredibly disappointing season. I have read a lot about certain Jets players saying how embarrassed they are with how badly things have gone.

Has anybody heard anything like this from Scheifele?

If I were GM I would DEFINITELY look into that because as a "team leader" he should at least be involved in the discussion because he has definitely contributed in his way to this crap shoot.
