Speculation: Armchair GM Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
It was never going to be an outsider like Tulsky, but it could have been someone with some front office experience even Poile's idiot son might have been better.

My proposal for the TDL is to go get Olivier and Trenin and put them together with Sissons again for the rest of the season. If we can’t watch good hockey at least give us the boom. I might even go to a game to watch them and the Svechkov line play.

As much as I've tried I can't figure out what Bruno's "System" is, and then in dawned on me that the player's can't either. Either they can't or possibly they won't play it. I assume forwards are supposed to back up wanna be forwards (Defensemen) which means no one covers the back end. I assume getting out of your own end is optional when you have full possession of the puck, and I assume attempting to shoot through people is a preferred skill set. I saw promise in Kemmel last night in his ability and willingness to shoot on net, so I can only assume he doesn't fit the system.

It's reminding me a lot of the Pascal Vincent era up here. Which was, not to put too fine a point on it, awful.

At no point has he actually been available. That's just pundits speculating and salivating.
I’m under no delusions that Olivier will ever end up back on the Preds nor will Trenin or Jeanot. I was just doing a little day dreaming about those guys kicking ass and taking names in gold.

Fair; it's just that I'm used to folks here indicating they're daydreaming by also proposing bringing back Fabbro. Whereas Olivier, particularly on the mains, has been... let's just say a lot of people who should know better keep asking anyways. :)

I know you all love him, but I think Waddell should cash out on his season. Could probably get some idiot GM to pony up a 1st even.

I mean we already saw what Jeannot could bring. I'm guessing he hasn't seen an offer along that level or he probably would have. I don't care how much you like a 4th line player, you simply can't justify throwing away those kinds of returns unless you are in line for a Cup.

Agreed. Players like this might get on a little roll in a season, but they won't have staying power. Waddell should absolutely cash out. And Olivier himself should cash in with his next UFA contract. But whichever teams trade for him or signs him to his next contract are probably gonna look stupid.

It just is what it is. I am glad a guy who works as hard as Olivier obviously does gets this career bump at the right time, and I 100% wish him the best. But we know how this story plays out... :dunno:
