We really love high draft position guys that have proven nothing and complain to the media about it around here.
Why am I assuming Trotz doesn't?

I mean he might not but it's looking like he's already given away one good player in Askarov for it.We really love high draft position guys that have proven nothing and complain to the media about it around here.

It happens when your team is in a doom spiral. Those guys become interesting because there's a thirst for higher-end future talent, and other than the draft the only other source is Distressed Assets. We really love high draft position guys that have proven nothing and complain to the media about it around here.
They did on the very first occasion his name came up (during the 2023 draft when moving up was being explored) but by the time he got around to actually moving it was old hat. There were similar "we've heard the name before" considerations for Jiricek. By contrast, Nemec's name has not popped up before in this context.I mean he might not but it's looking like he's already given away one good player in Askarov for it.
As I said on the main board that I think there is a bit of a double standard going on. Askarov wanted out and the main boards didn't bat an eye. Nemec does for the same reason and suddenly people thinks it's bad form.
A little bit. The Devils fans that aren't glossing this as a nothing burger are throwing him under the bus, but otherwise, what you said.I mean he might not but it's looking like he's already given away one good player in Askarov for it.

What's the objective take on Nemec anyway? He's playing with the Comets, right?A little bit. The Devils fans that aren't glossing this as a nothing burger are throwing him under the bus, but otherwise, what you said.
I don't follow the Devils much but seems like he's had a few injuries and he's been in one of those in-between not quite ready for full-time NHL minutes but probably not benefitting from AHL minutes. This season it seems like he was hurt, another guy has played well, and Nemec just hasn't been that great when he got the chance. Whether it's similar to Jiricek, who seems to have some flaws in his game (e.g. skating, etc...), I'm not sure. What's the objective take on Nemec anyway? He's playing with the Comets, right?
1000%Should have traded Saros for Nemec and kept Askarov…
The kid has no defense……
You can't acquire O'Reilly in any practical sense. It absolutely would involve a bidding war, and it absolutely would involve a 1st round pick (within the top-15) plus a top prospect. Nobody is going to pay that. Especially not from any team that O'Reilly is willing to waive his unofficial NMC for. So just let it go. He is not getting traded. What would it cost to pry O'Reilly out of Nashville?
As an opposing fan, a 1st/top prospect feels steep but I can appreciate that if he is available he'd be sought after by quite a few teams.
I'm a Red Wings fan who would like to add but not prepared to get into a bidding war type of situation.

There would be interested teams, and all of us fans here would be interested in cashing in on that interest... but Barry Trotz came out and basically said he's not trading O'Reilly. Couched in the terms that he has an "unofficial NMC" and in the knowledge that he wooed and loves O'Reilly so much for intangibles that we all know no trade will ever work.Thank you for the feedback. I saw his name on some trade target lists (the athletic) and with no NTC/NMC figured there could be some options.
I can definitely appreciate that many teams would be interested if the Preds were to commit to moving him.
Since December 12th we're 5th in the league in terms of point percentage and have the 2nd highest GF/GP. Unless the wheels fall off again prior to the deadline I think for better or worse Trotz is going to view that as a positive sign and I doubt we're making any big moves at the trade deadline. The only guy I could really see us moving is Nyquist if we're officially out of contention by the deadline, but even then I could also easily see us re-signing him for another year or two. I think it's even fairly likely that Trotz tries to add a young center (e.g. Cozens) at the deadline if someone like that is available. Not sure I'd agree with that approach but I think based on what Trotz has said and our improved play over the last month and a half that is the route we are going to go.
Honestly seems lije bruno doesnt want that line to do anything putting freaking Hinostroza on it. I think youd have more luck with Cole Smith tbh and that still has a very high probability of failureI’d love to see what Kemell could do with ROR and Gus until Vange is back. If we can get that line going, I’d be somewhat optimistic since the top and third lines appear to have found their stride. Vinny ain’t doing it for me.
