If he wants to play in Canada, but also in a non-toxic media market, the Flames would be a fit

Though the last 6 weeks would probably have made anyone change their mind

Now that the Isles will be almost assuredly drafting Dahlin I see him re-signing

The only real shot the Flames might have is through a significant overpayment. That and the appeal of playing with Gaudreau/Tkachuk which may or may not be a thing. Tavares is worth around 9-10M or thereabouts so if they offered him 12M+ then maybe he considers Calgary as a viable option.

But the Islanders can offer him that extra year and even more money so, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

He character issues are very real and plain to see.

What is overblown is his skill. The guy constantly puts up mediocre numbers but because he once was flashy and he continues to spin the narrative that he is a skilled guy getting screwed people still believe that he is skilled.

He's played 43 NHL games and has 22 points, that's not out of the norm for a recent first rounder struggling to make his mark on the team (hell, it's a lot better than Bennett's career 89 points in 237 games). Niedereiter had 3 points in 55 games under the same management in New York, was a bonafide bust, then he got his shot in Minny and is a consistent 20 goal scorer.

Ho-Sang isn't going to come into the locker room and tell everyone to f*** off and it's his team now, he isn't going to come in and completely screw up our "amazing" locker room atmosphere we have currently. I truly think he needs a change of scenery, and with the right coach and line-mates this guy can get 40-50 assists in the NHL, believe me. Isles fans think the same.

It wouldn't hurt to take a chance if his value is low as hell right now.

Side note, why are the guys on Fan960 so hesitant to rip the coaching? They're literally talking about how the coaches are trying to make it "fun" at practice by playing 3 on 3 and they're commending them for that, are you ****ing kidding me? It's the NHL, not peewee. They're terrified to say anything bad about Gulutzan, since they've given him the benefit of the doubt despite the collapse. Loubardias and Wills are clowns.
What do you want him to do? Rip a team that has exactly ZERO lines that have played together for more than a couple games? One that has Shore, Stewart, Glass AND Bartkowski in the line up? What do you expect that to do? There's nothing left to play for so why not keep it fun. Nobody has any expectations that this lineup is going to win many games so why punish a "team" that isn't even the same team that went tits up before all the injuries?

Ain't nothing wrong with Shore man. Leave him out of this.

I want him re-signed and in the bottom 6 next year.

He is struggling to up 40-50 points in the AHL, 40-50 assists in the NHL is a long ways away.

And I am not sure I want to count on him doing something just because a totally different player has done it before.

It's easy at this point point to say that Nashville last year was a good team that had underachieved all year.

A good year by the Flames next year and they'll say the same.

Will have to disagree on this one. I don't see us going on a deep run next playoffs (i hope I am wrong)

Last year's Predators had a couple of things that the Flames still do not - an effective one-two offensive punch down the middle, and a bottom six that can score more than single digit goals (combined in the case of the current fourth line).

The bazillion dollar question is if that's a personnel issue, or a coaching issue.

And with all that, they nearly missed the playoffs.

When we're on one of our annual winning streaks, we look like a well-built team, too.

Really hope Tavares signs here, we need another good young center more than a winger. If we can land a good young center, than we make another line and push Backlund and Frolik to the 3rd line where they belong.

Gaudreau-Monahan-?
Tkachuk-Tavares-?
? -Backlund-Frolik
?-?-?

If we cannot land Tavares(I think he stays on the Island), than get another good young center.

Without Tavares:

Gaudreau-Monahan-?
Tkachuk-*-?
? -Backlund-Frolik
?-?-?

*A good young center.

Than fill out the rest of the roster with good players. This would make just a good team but I do not have any faith in Brad Trevling.
