Speculation: Armchair GM - 2026 CBJ Offseason Roster Moves, Rumors, and Discussion

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
three straight drafts of waddell publicly saying they want to trade the pick, only to find no takers?

the man has negative levels of juice
The only one that really could be bad in hindsight is the Necas for #4, which probably should've been made but I'm not ready to give him the boot for it before we know what becomes of Lindstrom.

And by all means we made the right call last year with Smith who has only increased his value.

Who knows what will happen this year and who might fall in our laps.

Plus wasn't Dobson kind of underwhelming in Montreal? Obviously they did well but I didn't hear much good about him.

Voronkov wasn't great but Smith is one of the most fun prospects we've had in awhile.

He was on the Athletics “worst contracts” list for Montreal - not because he was particularly bad, but because he’s not even close to a $9M player.

going into the deadline in his first year firmly in the mix for a playoff spot, with two first round picks in hand, talking a big game about improving the team, and walking away with luke kunin (fart noise) was pretty egregious too

  • Haha

But what if the return is better?
Then I'll be surprised, a bit melancholic and then excited.

EDIT: But if we're talking Robertson, I want both Marchenko and Robertson on the roster. I'm not sure how much a Marchenko-for-Robertson swap improves the team. But that's probably because I'm very attached to Marchenko.

EDIT #2: And, just to be clear, I find that outcome very, very unlikely.

Yeah that one hurt, can't really sugar coat that.

i’m higher on debrusk than most and i really like jared mccann but how does this even move the needle?

our farm system is depleted and we’re missing high end talent. werenski’s a ticking clock. how are they not better off long term just taking a haul for werenski at this point

not to doomer post again but the “top six forward” talk is still them trying to replace marchment, it’s treading water!

they’re better off moving werenski for a haul of young forwards and staying put to take lin or gustafsson.

moving a first for debrusk or doing a tuch sign-and-trade to add another guy they’ll be paying into their late 30s, is just such an enormously foolish and short sighted way to build a roster.
