Speculation: Armchair GM - 2026 CBJ Offseason Roster Moves, Rumors, and Discussion

The GM needs to trust the medical staff. If your specialist says the prognosis for a full recovery is good, that's the information you're acting on.
How many times have we questioned medical staff with the amount of man games lost over the years?

Not saying they are aligned in anyway. Just pointing it out.

I don't think spending 3 weeks lifting weights after the season is over is the answer for KJ either.
3 weeks of lifting itself is not much. 3 weeks building a program, setting goals and getting some 1 on 1 time with staff is tons of time to springboard someone into offseason training. Atleast he recognizes the obvious problem, time will tell how much he can accomplish

Really tired of hearing about Voronkov and his yearly "He's out of shape" nonsense.

Maybe he turns it around. Maybe he doesn't. But I'd take a lesser but more consistent talent rather trying to fix his weight/shape issues.

I get Lindstrom is a frustrating topic but man its beating a dead horse in here. People are welcome to have their opinions but its constantly rehashed.

I thought about not partaking in the Lindstrom conversation, I'm tired of seeing it too. But the only other thing on here is Seravalli's speculations so it's not like I could make the thread any worse.

Here's what I don't get - we have a player who is basically useless because he's out of shape. Why do we wait until the offseason and try and squeeze his progress into that window?

I don't think we can assume he just... wasn't lifting/trying to solve that problem during the season.

I do assume, though, that he can be much more aggressive with the lifting in the offseason versus the regular season.

EDIT: Or is your point really that they should not play him, and essentially create an offseason for him to focus on solving the problem? I guess I see where you're coming from. I'd be for that approach if the problem persists this season.

Because pro sports can be weird that way. Waddell seemed to be able to convince himself it was mental as much as it was physical. Id like to know what he/the team does for his diet too, kid needs to eat more

It's fair to question KJ and Voronkov as to why they are so out of shape and if they are truly dedicated to the team/winning/being their best. They are young and might not realize it, but that it how you ruin your career by not taking things seriously.

It's also fair to question the team. This is two players that are failing because of the results of either off season, in season or in general strength and conditioning programs. What's going on and how do they fix this and why was it a problem that is happening to multiple people in this building.

Waddell hired new strength coach last August .. not sure there was much you can do at that point .. Once the season started , maybe they should have sat him like the Ducks did Karlsson and have him play and then off days to lift ..

Quiet Summer

Wait...Bucci being the voice of reason here?

He's...not...wrong...

Alot this noise with this trade board is just "vibes" which is pretty pathetic and honestly a bit petty. I still don't know how Seravalli keeps getting booked though I know the answer but I am not allowed to say who it reminds me of.

I hate to say it but if Larkin has to "settle" not going to a "superteam" and has to settle with a "92 point team" he could do much much worse than going out west.

We are a lower tax state, him and Z can be the "heroes" bringing up the team from "irrelevancy" and always get positions/media gigs here well after their careers end and pretty much make this team from bubble team to actually could press/dark horse contenders.

If I am Z and he's serious about "wanting to make it work" I will tell him to "NOT TAMPER" his buddy, make a strong pitch, basically hint he's the Captain long term and tell Steve Y I can get you the package you will be ok with letting Larkin go.

Its all about hitting their ego and selling the narrative.

He’s definitely not wrong .. Read the room .. Zach is tired of the #cbj being a middling franchise .. not bad enough to get difference makers in the draft , not good enough to make the playoffs most years ..

Zach wants to stay.. but we need way more than talk from the front office this summer . Name Zach captain if that was the plan , sign Marchenko .. show teams the old days are over , and we are going to be aggressive to win .

If Don thinks we aren’t going to get there with the current core, or Zach isn’t willing to commit .. sell Zach and Marchenko and load for assets and picks that mesh with our timeline to compete for a cup. Don’t kick the can down the road , be decisive

Whether he wants to re-sign in 2 years or not.

I assume his plans aren't finalized yet. I think Waddell has shared his plans to upgrade the team this summer and he's waiting to see if that comes to fruition.
I'm sorry but there's just so much presumptive discussion taking place on the subject I'd like to understand if Buccigross is doing it too. I know it can be read the way you explain, but I'd like to think, even in a social post, that Buccigross could have said "don't talk about any long-term stuff" instead of "don't mention his plans".

It's a fair question. I think this crazy ass Olympic schedule certainly didn't help. I don't think there was much practice or training going on. And the players not in the Olympic probably rested.

I know I'm more on the hopium side of things but after watching what happened when Bones took over I really question what Dean's off-season program looked like. Feel free to quote me if I'm wrong but I'll be kind of shocked to see KJ and Voronkov come out of a Bones training camp looking that out of shape.

We all want the big swing trade but if those two pan out we're gonna be in real good shape.

I think it's less the impact of training camp (which is too short to make a difference) and more about what they do before that. You hope the players are scared enough of Bones that they show up ready.
